Could someone please refer me to some literature regarding the Roman Catholic “blueprint” for the end times.

Hi Paul,

The doctrine of the Church on this matter can be found in the Catechism of the Catholic Church at
scborromeo.org/ccc/p1s2c2a7.htm

Here is a central passage :
The Church’s ultimate trial

675 Before Christ’s second coming the Church must pass through a final trial that will shake the faith of many believers.574 The persecution that accompanies her pilgrimage on earth575 will unveil the “mystery of iniquity” in the form of a religious deception offering men an apparent solution to their problems at the price of apostasy from the truth. The supreme religious deception is that of the Antichrist, a pseudo-messianism by which man glorifies himself in place of God and of his Messiah come in the flesh.576
676 The Antichrist’s deception already begins to take shape in the world every time the claim is made to realize within history that messianic hope which can only be realized beyond history through the eschatological judgment. The Church has rejected even modified forms of this falsification of the kingdom to come under the name of millenarianism,577 especially the “intrinsically perverse” political form of a secular messianism.578
677 The Church will enter the glory of the kingdom only through this final Passover, when she will follow her Lord in his death and Resurrection.579 The kingdom will be fulfilled, then, not by a historic triumph of the Church through a progressive ascendancy, but only by God’s victory over the final unleashing of evil, which will cause his Bride to come down from heaven.580 God’s triumph over the revolt of evil will take the form of the Last Judgment after the final cosmic upheaval of this passing world.581

Thank you for the reply. But I am still curious as to whether their is any literature available to show any “steps” that must happen before the return of christ in the Roman Catholic end times. Is there any literature pertaining to signs and events to look for at the end times and time sequences of these events as the Roman Catholic church teaches?

Thanks in advance

For your immediate gratification, here’s an article from the Catholic Bridge. Enjoy!

Hi, Paul 1978. I’m a Paul too, but from 1965. 🙂

I think the answer you might be looking for is, the Catholic Church has never issued any detailed statement depicting a schedule of events precipitating Christ’s Second Coming. The section of the Catechism quoted above is all there is by way of official teaching.

Individual Catholic saints or scholars or theologians may have speculated on more particulars, but that isn’t the same as an official Catholic Church teaching.

In popular parlance, we believe the Church will endure a great tribulation — we don’t believe in a pre-tribulation rapture. We actually don’t believe in a “rapture” at all as that term is popularly used — Christ will return, not to take us away, but to stay with us.

Eh? Could you elaborate on that?
They call it Second Coming of Jesus Christ, because he is coming back as just judge and ruler. After the he separate the sheep and the goat. We will be glorified like him, and be with him for all eternity.

When Gamera said, Christ will return, not to take us away, but to stay with us.

She is correct. There will be a new heaven and new earth.

Thank you all for your responses. I have done some additional internet research based on your responses and have found a book that I hope helps me understand the end times from a Catholic perspective. The book is titled “The Book of Destiny” by Fr. Hermand Kramer. Has anyone read this book, and if so do you recommend it?

I haven’t. Let me know if it is worth reading.

I’m a he. See up above where I said “I’m a Paul too, but from 1965?”

Why does everyone around here think I’m a woman? I’m a married man whose screen name is a Japanese movie monster — how much more proof do you need? Do I need to post a picture of me parallel parking?

Oops. The name I guess. Gamera. Anything with ending of “ra” usually implies femine name. I apologize for the gender confusion.

yea Manny you better watch out or he can laser you !! 😃

So I have a question, you or anyone (even monsters), Im gonna start by stating Im not pre, mid or post trib. Im just whatever He wants. I truly havent decided.

But Im thinking of what it says about that last days are like the days of Noah, which were pretty bad. Now, a arguement for the Rapture would be, with the church or more pc Christians on the earth things will always be kept in check to a point.

Now for things to get really bad,

Christians will have to be put down and persucted globally, which would consitute a unimaginable human rights abuse. But people would have to hate christians to not do anything.

Rapture with Christians leaving the earth and those few left in a total minority.

Christian churches losing their power or say in matters. Which would lead to that persucation.

How can it be awful in this world with Gods light in the world??

something that does make me wonder.

ideas??🙂

The Rapture with Christian leaving the earth is not believed in the Catholic Church. This is a dispensationalist point of view on End Times theology founded by John Darby.

The Catholic understanding is that in the End Times, the Son of Man accompanied by his Angels will arrive at an hour where no one will know. He will separate the righteous (sheep) and the evil doers (goat), and raise the dead from their graves. He will bring those who have been faithful to him by living the commandments into the Father’s Kingdom (they’ll be rapture up) and those of the damned will be cast into hell.

Manny

Thanks I have that part, essentially the rest of the story even for those who think Rapture, still ends the same.

Just if the Rapture part happens first, and why I posted what I thought was the most logical arguements for it. Just wondering how those reconcile with a tribulation time where its like the days of Noah??

kitty…I strongly second Rapture: The End-Times Error that Leaves the Bible Behind by David Currie
There is nothing else like it.

In the days of Noah, who was “taken” (as in ceased to exist on earth) and who was “left” (as in lived through it?) 😉

Check this Question and Answer Session from Bible Christian Society:
Q: A friend of mine has been reading the “Left Behind” books that have all of this stuff about the “Rapture” in them…is there really going to be a “Rapture” like these books talk about?
A. No, there’s not. The “Rapture” refers to a passage in First Thessalonians, chapter 4, which talks about Christians being “caught up” in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Many Christians believe, and the “Left Behind” books promote, that this being “caught up” to meet the Lord will occur before the Great Tribulation which is headed our way in the near future. Christians will simply vanish, meet Jesus somewhere in the air, and then return with Him to Heaven to await the end of time
But notice, in verse 17, Paul says that “…we who are alive, who are left,” shall be caught up. Remember that…those who are “left” get caught up to meet the Lord.
The “Left Behind” books get their name from a passage in Luke 17 and a similar passage in Matthew 24 which talk about the coming of the Lord being like the days of Noah and the days of Lot. Matthew 24 puts it this way: “As were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of man…they ate, they drank, they married and they did not know until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of man. Then two men will be in the field, one is taken and one is left. Two women grinding at the mill, one is taken one is left.”
“See,” Rapture enthusiasts say*, “One is taken, one is left…the Rapture! Jesus takes the Christians and leaves behind non-Christians!”* Two problems with that interpretation:
First, Jesus’ coming is being compared to the days of Noah and the days of Lot. After the flood, who was left? Noah and his family…the good guys…the bad guys were taken! After Sodom and Gomorrah went up in smoke, who was left? Lot and his daughters…the good guys…the bad guys were taken! Second, remember 1 Thessalonians? It says that those who are “left” get to meet Jesus in the air. The good guys are left behind to meet Jesus.
In other words, you want to be left behind so that you can get caught up in the clouds to meet Jesus in the air and accompany Him back to earth at His 2nd and final coming. There will be no Rapture like the one the Left Behind books talk about…that view is not scriptural.

In the days of Noah, who was “taken” (as in ceased to exist on earth) and who was “left” (as in lived through it?) 😉
Clever, 🙂

but I think the verse refers to the immoral condition of the day, so much that God was going to destroy it. The end times are to get so bad again.

And a small amount of people remained to defend the faith.

(Keep in mind, I have no agendas, or conclusions on this, only exploring a question I have)

🤷

It’s good that you are exploring.

Thanks Manny, I do understand what you both have posted, but it still doesnt directly answer what I mention here. Im thinking of How we get to the point of the days of Noah.

Rather than saying oh its just not whats going to happen. How can the world get to the point of tribulation with Christians on the earth? Thus my suggestions above 🤷

I could add there must be a breakdown somehow.

🙂
