I’m not sure if I’m in the right place. I hear that the end of world will be on October 18, 2011. Can you please answer this? I hear that the world will come to an end and all that is not “saved” will be dead.

Despite all the theories that abound, from all quarters, there is still one verse in Scripture that Christians of all persuasions, Catholic, Protestant and others, generally agree on.

Jesus said that only The Father knows when this will happen.
That’s good enough for me.

Many claim to be able to interpret Scripture, particularly the Book of Revelation, but these same Scriptural experts often ignore the fact that they are not necessarily experts in interpreting current events in this world, nor of predicting how worldly events will pan out. There are no experts in predicting the future political and military relationships of Russia, Iran, Syria, Israel, Iraq, Turkey, China, India and Pakistan, to name just a few. There are no experts in predicting terrorist attacks and how various national governments will react to their activities. There are no experts in predicting the growth and influence of the EU, the UN, and how the USA and other major powers will react. There are no experts in predicting natural disasters, their effects on economies, and how governments will react to those.

To predict the end of this world as we know it, you need more than an understanding of Sacred Scripture, you need to be able to predict world events.

So, my advice, don’t believe any of them. Just continue living your life as Jesus taught, ignore the end of the world, you cannot know when it will happen, and you cannot influence it other than by living a Christian life as Jesus commanded.

P.S. No, I am not going to respond to any esoteric questions regarding what it means to live a Christian life, ask your priest.

Does anyone remember that the end times already came and went. It came with Napoleon. It came with Hitler. It came with Stalin and it came with some rather shady Popes.

It came with the fall of the Berlin Wall. Get the picture.
And now the Middle East. Get the picture.

End times does not exist. The end will come, but not as postulated in End time theology.

Moreover, end time theology has absolutely nothing to do with the Nazarene. It declares that the Nazarenes’ existence and teachings ended at the cross.

Those who preach end time theology concentrate only on certain parts of the bible, especialy the prophets and the book of revelation. Particularly absent are the warning from the Nazarene in which he castigates his disciples from continually wanting to know when the end will come.

This is an interesting verse : **I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David; what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. **

Is it coincidental that Jesus, the descendant of David, carried a cross on his shoulder? Is the cross in all its many symbolic aspects (suffering, Tree of Life, service to God, etc.) the metaphorical key? This makes profound the verse “NO ONE comes to the Father except through Me” and “Enter by the narrow gate if you can”.

James
I agree. Yes, this to me is what is meant by the keys. Jesus is High Priest forever over all. Jesus has the final word for all in Judgement. Abraham was given the promise, he would have as many desendants as the sand of the sea. Abraham is a Hebrew Israelite, we all who believe in Jesus Christ are desendants of Abraham. We come now from ONE SEED, Abraham.

I reflex on Abraham who carried in his bosom Lazarus the poor man to heaven who died at the gate of the rich man. Abrahams reply to the rich man was he was given good things, but the poor man was given evil things.

God Bless

Of course you must admit that this is nothing but a private interpretation by only one Muslim person.
Hi

This is not a fatwa of Abu Huraira, it is a Hadith/Tradition of Muhammad, I quoted only one from so many. Muslims (both Shia and Sunnis) also believe in Second Coming of Jesus, like the Catholics. Ahmadia view is that this has been fullfilled in the form of the PromisedMessiah 1838-1908, whereas none has come in the Catholics, Jews or the ShiasSunnis you speak of.

One could differ with me, that is free will.

Thanks

yea Manny you better watch out or he can laser you !! 😃

So I have a question, you or anyone (even monsters), Im gonna start by stating Im not pre, mid or post trib. Im just whatever He wants. I truly havent decided.

But Im thinking of what it says about that last days are like the days of Noah, which were pretty bad. Now, a arguement for the Rapture would be, with the church or more pc Christians on the earth things will always be kept in check to a point.

Now for things to get really bad,

Christians will have to be put down and persucted globally, which would consitute a unimaginable human rights abuse. But people would have to hate christians to not do anything.

Rapture with Christians leaving the earth and those few left in a total minority.

Christian churches losing their power or say in matters. Which would lead to that persucation.

How can it be awful in this world with Gods light in the world??

something that does make me wonder.

ideas??🙂
While that is interesting, it is NOT a basis for Church Dogma. It is necessary to look at Apostolic Tradition and Sacred Scripture to establish doctrine. Neither of which, substantiate the rapture or premillenialism. Seems that all we know is that Christ is coming again to judge the quick and the dead, and we should be ready.

When I think of the time of Noah and read that particular Scripture, I see that it was the sinners who were “taken” and the righteous “left behind”. I see no Scripture reference to the rapture at all.

As to the ‘Rapture’ it has been well explained already. It is a feature of the heresy of Dispensationalism. Christ will not return to Earth prior to His coming for the Final Judgment. Traditionally the Church has also taught Amillenarianism. Meaning that the 1000 years spoken of in Revelation is the Church Age and we are currently living in it. Obviously it is not meant to be taken as a literal 1000 years but as a period of complete fulfillment. Satan was defeated on the Resurrection of Christ and now is the time he is permitted to prowl about the world. He will be damned eternally to hell when Christ returns.

There are a number of pious beliefs that are held by many Catholics but aren’t taught or condemned by the Church. These come from either Marian apparitions or prophecies of saints. One I can think of right off hand is how the Church is spread throughout the entire world through the combined efforts of the Great Catholic Monarch and a great and holy Pope working together. This is believed by many to come within a generation or two prior to a great apostasy and the coming of the Antichrist. Another common belief is that of the Great Enlightenment of Souls. It is when each person living will be confronted with all their sins. It is believed to be followed by the great masses of people coming to Christ and His Church. There are also the Prophecies of Saint Malachy who had a prophecy of all the Popes from his time 1140 AD or so to the last Pope.

I just finished reading Will Catholics Be “Left Behind”? by Carl E. Olson. Excellent book! It walks you through the varying degrees of dispensationist views and the Catholic views of christ’s second coming.
I found it to be easy reading and well researched. I also learned that the rapture concept is a fairly new one. The 19th century is when protestants started this belief.

There is a book, The End of the Present World and the Mysteries of the Future Life by Father Charles Arminjon which was read by St. Therese of Lisieux. She said about the book “Reading this book was one of the greatest graces of my life.” I hope this helps!
