Question: will the cycle of readings (A,B,C) stay the same?
The Lectionary is not changing.Question: will the cycle of readings (A,B,C) stay the same?
Nor is the missal changing. Only the English translation of the missal is changing. The Lectionary is not changing.
There are some changes in the Missal and the English are not the only ones getting a new translation. The French are also in the middle of that process.Nor is the missal changing. Only the English translation of the missal is changing.
Actually the missal already has changed . . .Nor is the missal changing. Only the English translation of the missal is changing.
The English translation we’re getting is the translation of a changed Latin Missal. So, yes, the Missal is changing. It may not be very noticeable but there are definitely changes that go beyond simply the translation.Exactly. In other words, The missal is not changing. Only the English translation of the missal is changing.
But the Latin NO changed in 2002, didn’t it?The English translation we’re getting is the translation of a changed Latin Missal. So, yes, the Missal is changing. It may not be very noticeable but there are definitely changes that go beyond simply the translation.
Correct, only the English is changing . . . oh, and the Spanish and French . . . and all other vernacular-language translations of the Editio Typica Tertia.Exactly. In other words, The missal is not changing. Only the English translation of the missal is changing.
Because the Latin Missal is different.Correct, only the English is changing . . . oh, and the Spanish and French . . . and all other vernacular-language translations of the Editio Typica Tertia.
It definitely will change again; this is a normal thing - it generally happens every 30 ~ 40 years. Don’t worryBut the Latin NO changed in 2002, didn’t it?What if it changes again?

I think I can handle the Latin changes. They’re easy to keep track of (as you’ve demonstrated.)It definitely will change again; this is a normal thing - it generally happens every 30 ~ 40 years. Don’t worry![]()
No, the missal changed in 2002, and the GIRM had changed in 2000. That was a decade ago. The English translation is just now catching up. Big difference. The English translation we’re getting is the translation of a changed Latin Missal. So, yes, the Missal is changing. The changes that occurred in the text of Latin Missal have never been implemented in the vernacular. They will be implemented with this translation. No, the missal changed in 2002, and the GIRM had changed in 2000. That was a decade ago. The English translation is just now catching up. BTW, where can one find these misprints and mistakes (in the Latin edition)?2008 - Roman Missal Third Edition Corrected (Corrected misprints & mistakes in 2002 edition)
2002 - Third Edition
Agreed. But there is no new typical edition of the Roman Missal, and has not been for nearly a decade. That is the point that I have been trying to make. The changes that occurred in the text of Latin Missal have never been implemented in the vernacular. They will be implemented with this translation.
Some countries have already implemented the GIRM, some haven’t. For Canadians, everything will be new since the CCCB was of the opinion that the new GIRM legally only applied to the third edition and didn’t need to be implemented until the English translation was.
Ah! Did they fix “celebrindum” in Eucharistic Prayer IV?2008 - Roman Missal Third Edition Corrected (Corrected misprints & mistakes in 2002 edition)
So far I found these:BTW, where can one find these misprints and mistakes (in the Latin edition)?
I haven’t been able to find a comprehensive list of changes online; it was apparently only published in Notitiae, vol 45 (2008). The best information I’ve found so far is from the USCCB: usccb.org/liturgy/innews/April2009.pdf and Adoremus: adoremus.org/0609NewsViews.htmlBTW, where can one find these misprints and mistakes (in the Latin edition)?
