Romance novels.

I’ve decided to get rid of all my explicit romance novels, but I’m not sure how to do it. I can’t donate or sell them like I usually do with old books because they might cause another to sin. How would you dispose of them in a way that is morally acceptable? No fireplace. 😃
 
If they are the ones on cheap paper, just tear them out of their covers and take them to a recycling center
 
Put them out with the trash. Those guys aren’t worried. In this day and age, they need the work. Hope that helps! 😃

Good move… Those trashy romance novels are nothing but porn for women! Do you have a grill? If you do, you can toss them in there one or two at a time and wait a bit before throwing a couple of more in there.

The trash would be fine too. I am sure that garbage men are among those who have the most extensive hard core porn collections in the known world. A few romance novels will aren’t even going to get their attention!

Please do not judge the men who collect the garbage! It is honest and necessary work, and many of them are family men–husbands and fathers (including my husband).

That said, they quite frankly do not have time to look at things in people’s trash (or even in the recycling). If you’re really worried about it w/ mandatory recycling just strip the covers off the books, let the covers into the bottom of a brown paper grocery bag, and put the books on top of the covers, and throw your newspapers into the bag over that.

But in all honesty, they don’t look at the garbage but just pick it up, throw it in the truck and move on in 30 seconds or less. Same with recycling, it’s just move, move, move until everything’s picked up.

If you have a fireplace use them to start fires.

If you’re in an area where you can burn things like piles of leaves and the like in you back yard, put them in there.
 
You can put them in the trash, or shred them. If you don’t have a shredder perhaps you can borrow one. Just say you have some important documents to shred. Be patient though , I guess a book would take a long time. You may need to lubricate the machine more than once and take breaks.
 
Use them for heating or recycle them. The pulp can go into re-printing 🙂

No offense in what you’d said–it was the bit about “most extensive hard core porn collections in the known world” that got my back up a bit.
 
If you have a really tough blender, you can shred them in that with some water and then pour it on your garden or compost pile. You could also just tear them up and put them on a garden bed to rot through the winter and till them in come spring.

Then let me spell it out carefully for you:

What you are doing is called slander. It’s not less sinful because this is the internet, and smilies don’t make it any better either.

While you may have known some particular individuals who had such collections (and I’m really not sure how many comprises “a lot”), I know my husband and his co-workers are largely comprised of family men who are husbands and fathers who do not possess ANY porn, let alone “extensive hard core” collections.

Don’t compound things by adding another group into your unfair, and slanderous, over-generalizations.

I stand by my previous response to the OP that the garbage collectors are far too busy doing their actual job to be concerned with the contents of anyone’s garbage or recycling.

Ah, yes–legally. I was going for the sin against the eighth commandment, which is just calumny/slander without a distinction as to how it’s spread.
