I have a friend who saids that:
“All government authorities are in place by God and to rebel against your authority is to rebel against God and you will face consequences and that all is according to Romans 13.”
What makes it hard about my friend’s interpretation about Romans 13 is that it puts people like me into choosing between tolerating any and all government injustice and taking it all in the ***, or rejecting scripture. Can you imagine what hay day Hitler would’ve had if we had accepted that out-of-context interpretation of Romans 13? - Protesting/Resisting Hitler would’ve violated Romans 13! (Sorry 6million Jews - you can’t resist, Romans 13 saids so. To the ovens…
uch
This of course is nonsense but my friend is of course protestant. Are there other verses I can quote that would put Romans 13 in context? The CCC already provides an answer to Romans 13, but knowing anything outside of scripture would not be accepted as an answer for my friend forces me to look elsewhere within scripture.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated!
