What does it mean that Rome is the instrument of unity and that sacerdotal unity has its source from there?

Im worried how the Eastern Orthodox churches are all not united to Rome,which makes 4 other ancient Holy sees seperate from Rome including other patriarchates

If Rome is the source of unity ,howcome so many other Patriachates/Holy sees(Jerusalem,Constantinople,Antioch,Alexandria,Russia) are seperate from it?

That’s a little like asking, if Christ is the source of peace, then how come so many other people are engaged in violence and hatred?

Anyway, you do not quite have it right to begin with. Rome is not the source of unity; Rome is the instrumentality of unity. The unity itself comes from our membership in the mystical divine body of Christ, but Christ willed that Peter and his successors on earth should be the center around which the Church unifies.

why havnt protestants and Orthodox stuck by Peters sucessor?

or are they both just small branches which have broken off the tree?

or has the tree been split right down the middle?

The lingering effects of original sin. The Church is divinely instituted, but the people in it are all 100% human.

thats a good question, at first thought the answer is because we are human, but again that doesn’t sound satisfactory.
