Could someone list a few titles that are comparable to Dr. Scott Hahn’s Rome Sweet Home? Interested in seeing the relationships between Protestants and Catholics & some of the Protestant arguments.

Karl Keating’s Catholicism and Fundamentalism is kind of the book that set the standard in the late 20th century.

Also, check out books by Dave Armstrong if you want to see a response to Protestant arguments.

I have heard that Surprised by Truth (1, 2, and 3) by Patrick Madrid covers many conversion stories.

If you are looking for protestant arguments from protestants.

Roman Catholicism, Evangelical Protestants Analyze What Divides and Unites Us.

Written from the protestant point of view. At times they address not Church teaching but some liberal teachings of the church. Create strawmen, etc.

Some chapters are

Roman Catholic Theology Today
What really caused the Great Divide?
Unhelpful Antogonism and unhealthy courtesy
What still keeps us apart?

There are chapters from former Catholics who are not protestants and a
chapter on why evangelicals are joining the Catholic Church.

You will need to know church history, theology and have an understanding of the various protestant theologies to see through to the problems of their arguments. If you are not well versed in your own Catholic faith. Stay away from all the different protestant theologies and just study catholicism for awhile.

I really enjoyed Born Fundamentalist Born again Catholic by David Currie. It was the book I used when I went through my questioning phase as a teenager. (I never did get much past the first chapter of Hahn’s book, though I do like his last supper and Hail Mary books). The author was born protestant and converted to Catholicism. It doesn’t go into depth about his conversion, but uses the same questions to explore the differences and why he chose Catholicism.

I would beg to differ on the bolded comment; Hahn went into quite a bit of depth about his conversion, but you have to get to the later chapters to read it.

Not Hahn, David Currie, the author I was recommending. Sorry for the confusing sentence structure. :o

For anyone interested, I keep a list of convert books here (at the bottom of the page).
