you must visit the American parish in Rome - this is where you can get free tickets to the papal audiences. there is an online guide for americans visiting Rome and all of its splendor. They do have English Mass every evening there. It is beautiful and next door to the church with the statue of St. Terese of Avila in extacy - wonderful!
 
One more thing - call the vocations office for your diocese before you go and ask if they have any seminarians in Rome - and if there is anything that you can take them.

Many dioceses do - and seminarians love to get care packages, etc.

Here a tip I learned from mom who has been to Italy… Learn some Italian. Try so doing some general greetings in Italian and be kind courtious to them and they will treat like a saint even if can only say a few words. So don’t act like a rude american:tsktsk:. My family and I will be going to Italy next year 😃 👍
