First off I would like to start by saying i’m not a Catholic, I have recently been seriously looking into the Catholic faith. I have two roommates one my best friend and the other his girlfriend. The two are not religious by any means, what I would like to know is if i’m sinning by living with them.

If i was aiding in there sin or something along those lines.

All one can nearly do these days is live as a Christian and let people wonder what it is about you that is so graceful and hopefully they’ll one day realize. One is liable to lose all friends if we remind them of their sins every 5 minutes.

No. I am always surprised people room with their gf/bf. What happens if you guys break up and he/she starts dating someone new?

I understand why you are asking the question.

This is a different scenario, but I was reminder of this upon reading your post. A relative was overseas years ago and renting a room from a couple with a child. There are times when the husband would beat up his wife. My relative saw or heard the incidents, and there is another renter in the apartment, a young woman studying at the nearby university.

I was thinking that if I was in their situation, I don’t know if I could last, knowing and hearing that the wife is subject to domestic violence, with a young child, and there was a time when she was even pregnant with their 2nd one. Maybe I would have tried to look for another place I could rent, because it would be hard stand knowing that someone is abused right then and there and I couldn’t or didn’t do anything.

None of your business, really.
You don´t look under their sheets, don´t you? And even if they told you - you are neighbour, not their confessor.

I think that’s a very good question. There are nine ways to be an accessory to another’s sin. One of them is remaining silent and another is consent, which in your case seem similar. I wonder, though, if perhaps your influence by example or tactful conversation might eventually lead them down the straight and narrow.

I wouldn’t move in with them.
Now, if this were a situation where you were with two other people, and they started moving in together while the lease was agoing on, or one roommate left and the remaining roommate brought in their lover, I would get a new living arrangement when the lease was up

Acj,
How beautiful that you are seeking the truth! I think you have your answer
from many others. Your spirit is pure and you ache for your best friend because he does great harm to himself and his girl friend. What can you do? Get into a RCIA program ASAP! Every Catholic church has one or can tell you where one is. Going to RCIA meeting is not joining the church but learning lots about it. Then, you will know if you want to join. If you do this you will gain an inner peace because you are reaching out to God. You friend will ask you why you are so happy and that is your opening to lead him to Christ!
