Hello everyone

My church is having a rorate mass on Wednesday and I was wondering what your experiences of this are.

I’ll be attending one in about an hour. 🕯️ I’ll try to let you know when I get back.

I’m back! Concur, it was quite beautiful and I hope to attend more in future. (This was the first time I had the opportunity to go, and only first heard of this Mass a couple of years ago)
Picked Nits You Should Not Read To Not Spoil Your Experience
Not every Latin hymn or Gregorian chant is a dirge!
Oh Em Geeeee-eeeee!
Theeerrrrrreeeeee’s nooooo neeeeeeed toooo chaaaannnnnnnt iiiiiiiit aaaaaaaaas iiif iiiiiiiit weeeeeeeeerrrrrrreeeeeee

It’s bad enough I already have this pet peeve with some of the English bits (Why can people not say “Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed” at a natural pace!?), don’t do this to Latin too!

It’s odd to hear of its being celebrated on Wednesday, because the Rorate Mass is the Saturday Mass of Our Lady during Advent. We had ours this past Saturday.

It’s my understanding that the same text is used for Wednesday in Ember Week. This is Ember Week. So it fits on this Wednesday.

But also it is used for votive Masses of Mary during Advent, so you could have it on any day in Advent that a votive Mass for Mary is permitted.
