Much ado about nothing. It is one individual’s speculation, just as there has been rampant speculation for the last 60 years. And the speculators are all over the spectrum.

The bottom line is that the Holy Spirit protects the Church from errors in Faith and Morals. That protection does not extend to diplomatic moves, nor does it protect the Church from those who are on one end or the other of the spectrum concerning the disciplinary role of the Church.

Thus it has always been, and thus it will be until the Second Coming. The greatest difficulty is that in the past, when communication was not instantaneous, most of this never reached the person in the pew. Now, with lightning speed communications, every nuance is examined, ignored, emphasized, de-emphasized, touted as the newest wrinkle, and generally blown out of proportion by whichever side wishes to attach significance, or to ignore while they attach significance to another wrinkle.

The Church has survived terrible papacies in the past. And contrary to the opinions of some, the recent papacies have been stellar, each in their own way.

It would be nice to see everyone sit back and allow the Holy Spirit to continue the work of Christ, and cease with the instant analysis, most of which is founded on extremely thin evidence.

The likelihood of that occurring, however, seems to range into the negative numbers.

People who have nightmares perhaps should be careful of what they consume before going to bed…

Still doesn’t hurt to say a Rosary for the intention of all appointees and for offices held.
