Rosary after Mass?

Do any of your parishes have a Rosary directly after Mass? Is it appropriate? It would be nice to have one before Mass, but it would just be too early in the morning around here for many and attendance would suffer.

But after Mass might be nice – if it’s appropriate. It might also keep people from talking in church after Mass…

My opinion is that Devotions before or after Mass are a good thing. They should however the two should be separated by about 20 to 30 minutes. The Roasry should end 20 minutes before Mass begins or not start before 20 minutes after Mass ends, if it’s prayer in the church. If the devotions take place in another place like a prayer chapel then the sepapation can be reduced. In other words they should not appear to be part of the Mass. (I’m not speaking of the common devotions after the Extraordinary form of the Mass)

Why?

The parish I used to attend had daily Rosary at 8:30, and it ended about 5-10 minutes before daily Mass began. There was no confusion about whether or not this was part of the Mass.

Should my personal prayers before Mass also not take place without that 20 minute buffer? As to not confuse people who may think MY personal devotions are part of the Mass?

I take a few minutes after Mass to make my personal thanksgiving after Holy Communion. It would be nice if the people saying the Rosary after Mass would allow just a few minutes before they start. In my home parish, the lady begins leading it the second the priest is back into the sacristy. I either plug my ears with my fingers or leave. In another nearby parish, they spend a few minutes lining up who will lead each decade, giving at least a little time before they begin. I like that much better.

We seat about 1K for Mass. If I waited 5 minutes or more, the place would be EMPTY and the lot cleared. It’s remarkable…
 
Church documents on such matters state that things like public devotions, practicing music, etc. should not take place immediately before Mass because it is a time for quite meditation to prepare to celebrate the Eucharistic Sacrifice. I find myself that I am unable to prepare as I’d like because none of the churches around here are quite before Mass!

I agree that there ought to be either a buffer zone or a seperate location for devotions, both before and after Mass.

Public devotions are certainly a good thing! I don’t intend to say otherwise. In fact, unless I am mistaken the public recitation of the Rosary in a church is a plenary indulgence - a very good thing indeed! However they do not take precedence over the preparation and thanksgiving we each ought to make before and after the celebration of the Eucharist.
 
We used to have Rosary after our Saturday morning Eucharistic Service. As time went on very few attended and at times only one or two.
 
Just had our 10 day Rosary devotion and it was very good - to have the Holy Mass followed by exposition of The Eucharist … the presence of the priest there in front of the altar , makes a diffrence …the incensing …and community , reciting or singing the prayers… …benediction afterwards …

Asking our Bl.Mother and all saints and angels to thank our Lord , to join us in adoring Him…

Wish may be the Knights of Columbus can take initiative to have same more often …like after Sat. Mass; even be able to offer the priest extra , for their added involvement ( if same is Church appproved )

And who knows how great the fruits would be …for the whole community …

Having read how one horror movie have influenced many to make 10/31 now a day to sort of glorify evil and uglies (well, agree some of it in a humorous way ) the Knights with their costumes being there …would not the little ones realise that Church is truly a place of… Holy Treats …

Our Lady of Rosary , pray for us !
 
We have the rosary before each mass and ends also about 5-10 min. before mass starts. It still feels like there is time for quiet devotion. Few people come for the rosary and don’t come until about 5 min. prior to mass. There doesn’t seem to be any problem.
 
Our parish has rosary after every daily 8:30 am Mass Mon - Sat. There is not really time to do it after the Sunday Masses there…
 
In our parish, rosaries are said before each mass. I think that it is a good practice to pray the holy rosary with the community. If in any case, I am late for the rosary, I do say it after the mass.
