I am also trying to develop a more structured or consistent prayer life. At the moment, I pray the Divine Mercy chalet daily and a decade of the Rosary each evening with my children. In addition to that are my personal prayers to God, spiritual reading and daily Mass (when I can).
Praying the Rosary with my boys is something I would love to happen soon.

I do not know how mature are your kids…but if they are…If you are able to, watch with them the movie about Fatima…and the latest one…The 13th Day…it shows how the 3 children were the pray the rosary.

I know that sounds like something I want to watch. I don’t know if they would get it. But it can’t hurt 🙂

I try to pray the Rosary every day. Some days it is hard to concentrate. I think it’s better to pray it in the morning before work rather than later in the day.

I have better luck praying at night. In the morning I am getting the boys off to school or they are home. I pray some throughout the day but nighttime is the best after the boys go to bed.

Prayer has become very important to me. I try to say the Morning and Evening prayer (Divine Office) Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet daily, Read a bit of the bible daily in the week, trying to go to mass daily too. I need to learn some of the more popular prayers too. Important ones i should say.

I am starting the Nighttime prayer tonight. I was reading about the prayers and at dariasockey.blogspot.com/p/breviary-bootcamp.html, nighttime was recommended.

I need to get a Catholic Bible. I have always been bad about reading the Bible on the computer or on my phone. I need an actual Bible in my hand. I have read the NT many many times but I have never finished the OT. I am really looking forward to getting into the OT as I know there are so many more books.

Prayer is so special. Hardest thing for me is staying focused! I need to contemplate and concentrate more!

I am doing better now at prayer than I ever have. I still have a long way to go but praying the Rosary helps me stay really focused…well as long as my boys don’t end up fighting, or my husband interrupting and so on LOL

I put on my phone prayers that I want to say and so I have them all right there when I go to pray(was going to say when I go to sit down and pray, but now I kneel). Besides the Rosary prayers I do not have any other prayers memorized yet. I know it will happen over time. It is funny because the Glory Be prayer always wants to slip out of my mind, the last part, for some reason it will just not roll off my tongue.

I enjoy praying the Holy Rosary. Rosary brings peace to me more than any other prayers. BUT I am not a diligent Rosary warrior, so I try to force myself into a Rosary Novena. I often miss days since I usually say it late at night and it’s really easy to fall asleep or wander off while praying. Yet, I never give up my 54-day Rosary Novena plan easily and try my best to make up for the lost Rosaries.

From my own experience, even a Rosary without in-depth meditation is better than not saying any prayers. I feel that Mary shares my sorrows and pressure even if I only said 3 Rosaries in the past 8 days. God has changed my preconceptions and mindset, making me more open to His will. Thanks be to God.

In fact I like the Divine Mercy Chaplet, St. Michael’s Chaplet and other prayers, but I can’t be that focused after 20 minutes of Rosary.

I forgot to mention something about the point of this thread. We’re all talking about the how, when and why of praying, which is very good. Recently, for some reason which only the Lord knows, I have been exceedingly interested in Blessed JPII’s spirituality. In my readings, I found out that the Holy Father prayed about seven hours every day. Seven hours! Makes everything I do seem absolutely puny by comparison! 🙂 Thank goodness the Lord also rewards for trying!
Padre Pio used to pray atleast 15 hours a day he would hardly sleep at night and bore the wounds of Christ…

Why 3 decades when there are 5? Just trying to understand.

Wow, that is a lot of Psalms to pray in a day. That shows amazing dedication to those who still do that.

If I had to guess I would say I am praying about an hour a day maybe a bit more. I do want that to change. I believe prayer is the most important thing we can do. I am overwhelmed with all the prayers but I am putting together the ones that I feel I am lead to. I know more will be added to that.
Sorry I keep the same mistake I meant to say 15 decades every day thats what our lady usggest at Fatima and Lourdes.

I have everything printed out to start the 54 day Novena. I really want to start that.

I am still somewhat confused with the way Our Lady has shown herself say at Fatima and Lourdes. Confused as to what ways to pray and do the Rosary. For the Diocese in my state, Our Lady of Providence is the patron Saint. I have been using prayers to her and they are wonderful. Do I use different prayers, say to Our Lady Fatima at times? I have been looking for a site where this is all explained but not having the best go of it.

Padre Pio was a wonderful person and is a blessing to all who love Our Blessed Mother Mary and our Dear Lord.

Padre Pio never left the rosary it was always in his hand whether he would walk from one place to another or read letters. The rosary was always in his hand. I use the following link to pray the rosary. I believe the most important thing about the rosary is reflecting on the mystery with scripture reading.

I pray the Initial prayers then do 15 decades followed by all the rosary prayers mentioned over there, Litany,Hail Holy queen etc

I also add the prayer to the sacred heart after reading about the benefits of praying it everyday and I have noticed the difference

Thank you for the site. I love how well the site is set up, seems easy to use without all kinds of extra stuff that doesn’t pertain to the Rosary.

Hi, TwinMommy…I am absolutely amazed at you…and how you have grown in your prayer life in such a short time.

As for the 54 day novena, you may want to inquire in the parish where you move to, if they have already a group that does it. You may want to do it with them. Anyway, just a suggestion.
