I think Tim you said it best. From the OP’s description, she was at Mass praying the rosary and didn’t go up to receive the Eucharist. It seems like splitting hairs here between EF and NO Masses. There are so many distracting and innattentive things that people do at Mass that to worry about someone praying the rosary at Mass and not receiving is the least of them.
Tim didn’t say that. You quoted me using his name 😉

By definition, you’re participating in the rosary when you pray the rosary and not the Mass. So, it’s not participating in the Mass. The rosary is not part of the Mass.
But you are ignoring the fact that the practice of praying the Rosary as a means of assisting Mass was an acceptable practice and was recommended by clergy.

Fr Z said this when asked about the Rosary at Mass
I don’t think saying the Holy Rosary during Mass is a bad thing.
I think there are more perfect ways of participating. I generally think that remaining in the texts of Mass is better during Mass.
But, that said, there is not simply one acceptable manner of active participation at Mass. People can choose now this, now that method. You can following the texts closely. You can follow commentaries on the parts of Mass, sometimes in hand missals. You can say the Rosary. You can pray according to the four classic points of prayer: glorification of God, prayers of sorrow for sins, petitions, expressions of thanksgiving. You can focus on a sacred image.
Perhaps on this day you will need this method, and on that day some other.
What I would try to avoid is distraction. Your fruitful participation can be aided by having a regular routine, or even perhaps a bit of a plan before you go to church for Mass. Knowing what you are going to do today can help.
People have different spiritual needs when they enter the sacred precincts of the church. Different methods of participation can help them in the exigencies they are facing.

Or followed along in any form of the Mass, in any Rite. ** There is not need to specify the form.**
Context matters in this case.

But yes, using the missal to pray the Mass with the priest is the most intense way no matter the form.

Was. Was an acceptable practice for the pre-Vatican II Mass, and presumably still is for the EF. Any quotes above extolling it as a normal and worthy practice relate to the EF, the Tridentine Mass.

For the OF, the Novus Ordo, it is now not an acceptable practice. Everything from the Constitution on Sacred Liturgy forward has emphasized full, active, intentional participation in praying the Mass. When it comes to the OF, all previous rituals and practices are abrogated and we start with a clean slate. The OF decides what part of previous traditions get incorporated in the OF, not individuals.

I quoted the relevant part of Paul IV’s letter, Marialis Cultis above for an explicit papal teaching on this issue which defines the difference between devotional pray and liturgical prayer and explicitly forbids devotional prayer merged into the liturgy.

So, your quotes do not apply to the OF.

Then we agree about the Rosary and the OF.
If you actually read my post # 26 you could have saved yourself the trouble.
