Rosary Based Bible Study

Hi,

I’m planning to lead a Bible Study this fall and was thinking about focusing on each mystery of the Rosary. I would like to draw into Old Testament passages that relate to each mystery as well as the parts of the New Testament which describe the mysteries. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any existing Bible study books/guides that do this already, or any resources that would help with finding Bible passages (particularly the Old Testament ones).

That’s a really good idea for a Bible study! John Paul II called the rosary a “compendium of the Gospel”. You could do one session per mystery for a total of 20 sessions. Or you could combine them to make it less if need be. I can’t believe no one’s ever done that before!

I am unaware of anything out there that fits exactly with what you’re looking for. Of course, it’s much easier to find the New Testament references to each mystery. I cannot think offhand of any shortcuts towards pulling in the Old Testament beyond using the little cross-references in your Bible.
 
That’s a really great idea. If you wouldn’t mind sharing what you come up with, or somewhere we can see it when you’re done, I’d certainly be interested in diving into this.

You inspired me to do some digging in Logos and I found some pretty cool stuff.

There’s no ideal topical index for connecting themes to the Old Testament, but the New American Bible, Revised Edition has some good cross-references, and if you want to dig a little deeper, the linking to the Catechism and Church documents can yield some interesting results as you find places where Conciliar documents and saints cite Scripture on certain topics.
