Rosary beads storage?

If it’s carried around a lot, for example in a purse or a pocket, then often people have little pouches to carry them in and keep them protected. Jewellery pouches work perfectly and can be inexpensive. If they’re staying in one place, either a jewellery box or keep it hanging somewhere - I keep mine on a hook on the back of my bedroom door.

I have a small little pouch, and I either put the Rosary into the pouch into a pocket of my purse, or I put it straight into the purse’s pocket. [BIBLEDRB][/BIBLEDRB]
 
The ones I don’t use hang off of nails on my walls.

I always keep one in a pouch in my pocket.
 
I got these pretty boxes in Pier I Imports. They come three to a set. They are the perfect size to fit my rosaries. I keep one in the living room, one in the bedroom and one in my home office. I keep a pair in my car in one of the trays in the console, and one in a pocket in my purse.

But when they can’t be there, I would always carry one on your person - in a little pouch is good, since I have broken some by not using one - and since I have others, I keep one at my bedside, etc., where they are handy for use in such places, or are a reminder to pick it up and use it.

The old rosary blessing prayer asked God to bless the rosary, and the person who used it, and also to protect from evil any place where it was carried or kept “devoutly” in the home by its owner. Pretty cool stuff.
 
I’ve broken 2 rosaries from being in my pocket without a pouch. Now I usually just have my rosary ring or knotted one with me when I’m out. 😛

Wow! I didn’t know that. Are priests allowed to use the old blessing?

That is unclear. 😦

The old blessing was reserved to Dominican priests until late in 1964. The blessing had been in the old Roman Ritual, but like I said, reserved only to Dominicans to use it until 1964. Then in 1984 the new book of blessings came out, which replaced the old Roman Ritual, and it had a new rosary blessing prayer.

But then Pope Benedict said in 2007 that any priest could use the old books - for the mass, and for blessings - in the 1962 edition. But… he also clarified that the rules in force in 1962 apply to their use. Since the permission for all priests to use the reserved blessing was not given until two years later… :confused:

So I don’t know. I suppose the only certain answer is to find a Dominican priest who reads Latin…
 
We have 2 in every vehicle (we have 2 vehicles) I have on in my church “bag” that goes to Mass with me, one in my Adoration “bag” that goes to Adoration with me, one in my pouch with my prayer book at home that I use every day, 2 on my home altar, at least one in every desk drawer at work for my 3 businesses, and one on my swing under my gazeebo.
 
Since most of the things have been said, I’d like to point out that it is also not uncommon for Spaniards and Portuguese and people from countries that they once colonised to wear a rosary around your neck as a sign of devotion. In many portraits and paintings of aristocrats from these areas, you’ll occasionally see someone wearing it over on top of their clothing. I’m Filipino so many Filipino and Latino people that I know who wear a Rosary wear it underneath their clothing. I wear a scapular and it gets tangled with a Rosary so I tend not to wear the Rosary around my neck and I just keep it in a pocket.

As a random aside, I’ve also noticed some Malankara Orthodox guys that I chill with wearing it around their neck and on top of their clothing and when you walk by an Armenian Orthodox Church during Divine Liturgy and check out the cars in the parking lot, you’ll notice they all have rosaries hanging from their mirrors. It’s kind of funny the kind of folky, pietistic syncretism that sometimes goes on among Christian lay people.

I carry one in a pouch that I bought at the local Ave Maria Grotto. My “spares” (including the glow-in-the-dark one that I made) are hanging on my bed lamp, right where I can see them.
 
My main rosaries (2) i keep in those cheap leather zipper pouches that are available at just about and Catholic goods store. At night I wrap my favorite rosary around my hand, and the other stays in it’s pouch on a bookshelf full of my Catholic “stuff”

Other rosaries that I own from first communion, confirmation, ect. are in a cubby hole in my bed’s headboard
 
I have one in a leather pouch in my hand bag

One hangs from my gem globe in the livingroom

I have one in a little pouch on a keyring attached to one of my bibles

I have one in a bible case with another two bibles

I have a one decade rosary (for praying my decade for my rosary circle) in a little china dish which says forget me not

I wear one around my neck

The rest and there are quite a lot and various chaplets I keep in the top drawer of my desk in my sanctuary (prayer corner). It is a shallow drawer and I have lined it with velvet.
 
I keep a few Rosary’s in my back pocket,so that if I wish to say the Rosary while walking, i also keep them in a pouch,and if I get more sent to me to give out, I leave them in the envolpe, that they came in.
