I’m sorry, I have absolutely no idea where to post this, but I thought I’s post it here…😊

I am thinking of making my own Rosary Beads, with cool beads and ribbon etc, which I want to be proper sets that are “real”. are there any details that I need to remember, any little things that aren’t so obvious that I might forget?

I willl make sure I get them blessed:highprayer:

Thanks in advance…

God Bless you

I have been wanting to make some using polymer clay…but just dont have the time lately. Ypu can do a search and find “findings” like a crucifix and a medallion(for lack of a better term) on-line I thik you can get them at Firemountaingems.com . If you do make one I would love to see a pic.😉

Thanks…If they’re not too bad I’ll send you a pic;)

Many many years ago, I bought a book about roses and in the back was a recipe or directions on how to make rosary beads from rose petals. I’ve never had enough rose petals from my garden to try this.

Traditional rose beads

1 cup salt
1 cup rose petals, firmly packed
1/2 cup water
oil paint (optional)

1 - Heat salt and petals, mashing together. Stir in water and add paint for desired colour, or leave natural for a brown bead.
2- Reheat, very low, over an asbestos pad, stirring constantly until smooth.
3- Roll out to a 1/4 inch thickness, cut and roll beads in the palm of the hand to desired shape (round, oval, oblong) until smooth.
4- String beads on a florist’s wire or waxed string fastened to a needle. Let dry in a dark place, moving beads occasionally to keep them from sticking.
5- When dry, fashion into jewelry as desired. Wrap in a cloth saturated with rose perfume to increase fragrance.

Note: should you prefer traditional black rosary beads, cook the petals with a rusty nail or in a black iron pot with a piece of iron in it.

I would invite ou to visit the Rosary Army web site. This apostalate makes all-twine knotted rosaries and gives them away. It is pretty fun to make them.

As for having them blessed. There are a couple things that come to mind. You can give them out with a little card instructing the person that they should get it blessed. If you havethe item blessed before you give it to them, then you should put a little card in there about it being a blessed object and how to treat it accordingly.

Hobby Lobby has the crucifixes and the middle medal that loops it all together. My girls made “masculine” ones for Dad, Grandpa and Godfather last Father’s Day by stringing wooden beads on leather lanyards.
