Hi there,

I have fallen in love with several rosaries online and have a few that were given to me and a few that were personally purchased by me. But I just always wondered if someone is supposed to be the one to give it instead of me buying it? There has been one rosary I was planning to buy online, but for some reason I am quite hesitant. I don’t know why. There is one rosary which I have kept since I was young and I used it to pray the Holy Rosary everyday. I have kept it and used it to pray throughout all the turbulent times in my life and I don’t ever want to let go of it. But the weird thing about me is that when I bring in something new to my life, I feel things change for the good or for the bad. I hope I am making sense. Maybe I am being superstitious, but that is just what I notice in my life. I know I am not supposed to think and be negative, but my mentality has always been that way. It’s just like having something meaningful that you had with you like a ring or a pencil that if you lose it you feel incomplete or things go bad and it feels very different to have a replacement. I don’t know. That is just how I feel. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated it! Thank you.

There’s nothing bad about buying a rosary as opposed to being given one. You’re buying the item, not the blessing.

Well, it’s up to you if you want to buy a new rosary. I wouldn’t avoid buying one or force myself to buy one just because I notice some patterns in my life. 🙂 I am confident in God’s protection 🙂

These are just my preliminary thoughts. I’ll just post more when I think of more. Just lurking about the forums when I saw your post haha

I have like close to ten of them, lol…

I have some that i keep in my purse and if someone next to me forgot there, i land it to them when we say the rosary, i have some in my room so i don’t have to look for the one in my purse.

I have another one at work and one that keep in my car.

Many times, i gave a rosary when i spot someone that doesn’t seem to have one. My husband bought me a few one containing Sister Faustina relic, these i keep in room and pray.

You can have as many rosary as you like, they are tool to help to pray. If they are blessed, then the become sacred object which i love because of the cross which i feel safe with it.

I bought another one which i find very useful, because the bead are like rectangle and it makes it easy to follow each bead.

So conclusion, if you want to buy another rosary go ahead. I find it practical to have a few due that i say the rosary quite often.

God bless!

I understand what you mean, because I’m the same way. It’s okay for you to purchase a rosary on your own.

If you like it, you should buy it and love it and bring it into your life.🙂

Collecting rosaries is kind of like collecting holy cards.
Each one has a special meaning fro us, and helps us in our prayer life.
It’s fine to buy them.
I make them myself, and STILL purchase really beautiful ones. 😉

I also have the gift rosary I received for my first holy communion. It’s the only one i have always used. Then a friend made me a rosary. It didnt feel right giving up my regular rosary, on the other hand the beads were bigger and made my fingers hurt. I see lots of beautiful rosaries online, I am curious about the wooden ones, scented ones, Irish Connemara marble ones, vintage rosaries. But being a pragmatist, I will keep my childhood set as long as it lasts. Maybe someday I will collect rosaries.

I too, have a bunch of rosaries. It is funny how some days certain ones feel right, like they are the ones to use. I have a beautiful rosary that a friend so graciously made me (thank you Clare! 😉 ) and when I use it, I think of her. I also have an old Connemara marble rosary that I use when I am thinking of my dad. It has a heft to it, and is very nice to hold.

I agree that it is much the same as collecting prayer cards, there is a right one to use for different times, and nothing wrong with buying them for yourself. It does sound like you are being a bit superstitious though. New beads are not bringing you good things. Using them is.
