I was given a rosary that was blessed by John Paul the II. A family member gave it to me who is not Catholic but obtained the Rosary in Italy many years ago. Since it was blessed by a Saint, is it more special or should it be treated different? Or is it just a nice item that I own?

That is an interesting question. I too have a rosary blessed by him. I think I will wait for an answer with you! But that rosary gas always been special to me! 👍

Well, I know you like tacos, but honestly…😛
Lay off the refrieds gurl!
:D:D:D

I have a religious sister Aunt that went to Rome years ago during the jubilee year (i think 2000 or 2001). I jokingly told her to bring me back a rosary blessed by the Pope. Lo and behold…when she returned, she gave me a beautiful rosary that was blessed (i think during the wednesday st peters square audience). Now I can say that i have a rosary blessed by a SAINT! Hold onto your beautiful rosary and cherish it. 🙂

Yea, I got one of this jubilee ones too. Mine is those silver rosebuds. What kind is everyone’s?

I have one made of rose petals that smell like roses, (or is it rose gas? ) and another that is green, with a Celtic cross. My daughter bought the green one in Ireland for me and had them both blessed when she was in Rome. 🙂

That’s great, AuraLu! 🙂

Treasure it, and enjoy it.

I have a really pretty Missions Rosary, that was blessed by him, also.

It has different colored beads for each decade of the rosary. The different colored beads represent different continents for the different missions.

I have the Mission Rosary blessed by St. Pope John Paul II. I also have Rosaries blessed by Pope Benedict & Pope Francis from their trips to the US.

I had the privilege of being at the September 14th audience this year. My RCIA catechumens and candidates will all be receiving rosaries blessed by Pope Francis.

Mine is the rose petal jubilee year 2000 one too! He must have blessed a whole bunch at the same time?
They still smell like roses 🌹 🙂

yes - the things I have that were blessed by him - were blessed by a Pope and a Saint.

I assume he did not buy it after the blessing but it was given to him or he bought it and it was then blessed. If so there is also a plenary indulgence on the feast of St. Peter and St. Paul (under the usual conditions for such…Holy Communion, confession, prayer for the Pope, detachment from all sin).

From the document on Indulgences:

Use of Articles of Devotion. (Verbatim follows:) "The faithful, who devoutly use an article of devotion (crucifix or cross, rosary, scapular or medal) properly blessed by any priest, obtain a partial indulgence. “But if the article of devotion has been blessed by the Sovereign Pontiff or by any Bishop, the faithful, using it, can also gain a PLENARY INDULGENCE on the feast of the Holy Apostles, Peter and Paul, provided they also make a profession of faith according to any legitimate formula.”

And for those of you without a rosary blessed by a Pope, do a me and write to the Pope and at the bottom… 😃

PS, I will be really grateful for a rosary blessed by your holiness!!!

I got one blessed by Benedict and Francis hahahah
