Hello. I am new to the rosary. I was wondering, is there a short book, maybe with a brief description of each mystery, pictures of the mysteries, and the prayers in order that you say them? Something I can hold in one hand and pray the rosary beads with the other? Something that doesn’t assume I already have the prayers and their order memorized. Thanks in advance!

I think one of the best ways to go on this is with Father Peyton, Father Peyton had a radio program, the Family Rosary back decades ago.

He has books out, short in themselves.

A Catholic Bookstore will actually have quite a few alternatives for Rosary books.

There is another little book called the “Scriptural Rosary”, the above website is called the Scriptural Rosary and has say, Bible verses for each Hail Mary.

I am sure other Meditations on the Mysteries of the Rosary are available online.

I mean, there are even just Meditations even printed on sheets of paper with most everything that one needs, let alone a book.

So if one’s web searching abilities are good, I think one could find plenty.

Or swing by a Catholic bookstore, they’ll be all over the place.

Though if you really want to get into the fullness of it later on, pick of St. Louis de Montfort’s “The Secret of the Rosary.” Not too long, but pretty intense. It’s online too:

Everyone should try to read “The Secret of the Rosary”, I’ve seen that book since I was a child. Yes, that is a great resource! I commend you for mentioning this.
 
There are some excellent books and brochures available on how to pray the rosary.
I have been praying the rosary since childhood.
By far, the best book that I have yet to find is my most recent purchase.
My Complete Rosary Book from Aquinas Press.

It tells you how to say the rosary.
It has the prayers for the rosary.
It has a scriptural passage for each mystery of the rosary as well as a meditation.
The artwork is beautiful.
It also contains a Scriptural rosary for somebody who wants to pray a scripture passage before each Hail Mary followed by the Litany of The Blessed Virgin Mary.

This is a book to grow with.
In other words, as a person who is just beginning to pray the rosary, you may simply want a small flyer with the mysteries. These flyers are generally foldable and available at the back of many churches. You could place that on the same page as the prayers until you do know the prayers and the structure of the rosary becomes second nature.

As your prayer life advances, you could then start slowly using the rest of the book, beginning with just the scriptural passage before each mystery.

Welcome to the rosary. Amazon has a nice selection of them, if there is not a Catholic Book Store close to your home.

I started praying the rosary daily a little over 6 months ago, and it has made a real difference in my life. I am much happier and my life has changed in ways I would not have thought possible.

You might want to google the rosary confraternity. If you are going to pray the rosary regularly, it is a nice organization to join. It has a long history. Several Saints were fans of the Rosary Confraternity.

Definitely take advantage of the free resources.
Examples of free resources include the rosary brochure/flyer I mentioned in my last post.
I also have The Catholic Devotional. It was one of the small free books available in the racks in the vestibule of one of the parishes to which I belonged. Within its covers, you will find the basic prayers of the Catholic Church. This includes the Apostles Creed, Our Father, and Hail Mary used in the rosary. While it doesn’t tell you specifically how to pray the rosary, it does contain the mysteries of the rosary. This would absolutely be a great place to start.

I dunno if anyone already suggested this one, I don’t have time to look through all the responses, but my absolute favorite one is called “From the Rose garden of Our Lady” it’s exactly as you described, each mystery( which are all in order ) starts with a Bible verse according to that mystery, and then sometimes a short meditation from “the imitation of Christ” and then 10 very short meditations, which are meant for doing a scriptural rosary, but I just use them to meditate in my own way, and the meditations themselves are so beautiful and deep,
