I know many of you are members of the Rosary Confraternity

I am planning on joining myself, but I have a few questions that hopefully you can help me with.

I understand that members of the Confraternity can gain a plenary indulgence on seven feast days throughout the year and on the day of enrollment. Does this mean on the day of enrollment only or also on each anniversary of that day?

I also know they send you a certificate with the date of enrollment. Is that the date when you send the application asking to be enrolled or the date when they process the application? I realize this is not essential at all, but a special date for me is coming up and I would like it to be the date on the certificate.

Also, does anyone know how many members are there worldwide?

I think only the day of enrollment. However, on each anniversary and on any day you may potentially earn a plenary indulgence through other means.

And don’t be surprised to discover sometimes Our Lady will give you a gift for praying the Rosary or for being a member of the confraternity. My experience is that this can happen especially on days related to the mysteries of the Rosary.

In my case it was neither the date I enrolled, nor the date they processed. It also was a little after I received the certificate. February 2, 2005 (Presentation of the Lord) is on my certificate. I suppose they choose a nearby Marian feast day.

If you wrote and briefly explained your request for a specific date, they might do it but I don’t know.

I’m glad to hear you are planning to enroll – especially if you love the Rosary. No matter how little or how much you love the Rosary, I think you may grow to love it more and more as time goes on and as you continue to pray.

The Rosary Confraternity means a lot to me and I am so glad to have found that opportunity.

Not yet being confirmed, I am not sure if I am getting ANY of the indulgences for the Holy Souls, plenary or otherwise. But I try to recite a daily rosary anyways. I need the discipline

Andruschak, I’ve been reading your posts for awhile now. I know you love the Rosary. If you have not yet enrolled in the Confraternity of the Rosary I think you should. As long as you were Baptized as a Christian at some time in the past, that is the only requirement – in addition to promising to pray the Rosary (15 decades) at least once a week with the intention of benefiting the confraternity. (Now with Vatican II, the Catholic Church recognizes as valid many other denominations’ Christian Baptisms – but they must have been a Christian denomination and “In the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit”). I’m sure that since you are in RCIA, you are aware of your baptismal status. You don’t need to wait until Easter – I didn’t wait either.

You’ve been praying the Rosary for some time now. So I think you know you are going to continue praying the Rosary. Our Lady of Fatima requested that we pray at least five decades of the Rosary every day. So I encourage you to start keeping a brief diary and keep track of your daily praying of the Rosary. I find keeping a brief diary is critical to keeping me faithful to do every day the things I want to do every day.

And if you need to learn more about the Rosary or want more answers about the Rosary Confraternity, St. Montfort’s book “Secret of the Rosary” is really the book to read.

Thank you. Apologies for not making it clear, but I am a member of the Rosary Confraternity and have Montfort’s books. The local parishes insist the Candidates be confirmed at the easter Vigil alongside the Catecumans. Once that is over, I will be talking it over with a Spiritual Director about Montfort’s Toal Consecration to Mary. And I do a daily rosary and a daily divine mercy chaplet.:o

I see, so if I enroll this weekend I´ll probably receive the certificate by the end of february, so I´m guessing the date on it will be March, 25 for the Annunciation Feast.
That will be fine. As I said I would have choosen a different date if given the option, but it´s not really a big deal. Besides I love the Annunciation Feast, so I´ll be happy too if that´s the date they choose.
The Rosary Confraternity means a lot to me and I am so glad to have found that opportunity.

We’ll automatically be praying for each other as we pray our Rosaries with the intention of the Rosary Confraternity.

I consider that the Rosary Confraternity is like when Jesus fed the 5,000. We all are like those in the 5,000 and we have many needs. I may lack confidence in my own prayers. That by themselves they may be hardly sufficient to meet my own needs. But this miracle of feeding the 5,000 continues.

As we pray with the Confraternity, we are not praying alone. We share in each others prayers which has a great multiplying effect. Other multiplying also takes place.
  1. Praying with others and specifically joining our prayers to place in Mary’s hands
  2. Mary and her spouse the Holy Spirit present our perfected prayers before Jesus
  3. Jesus blesses our prayers and multiplies our gifts back to us in a miraculous manner that greatly meets our needs (although we may not often see or understand)

Today is my 2nd anniversary of joining. And it is the second anniversary of starting my new job.

I had been out of work since Fall 2003. I signed up for RCIA that began in September 2004. But I was still out of work. It began fairly slowly but steadily that I somehow gained a love for the Rosary. I started by only praying a decade of Hail Marys. Eventually, I began to pray the Rosary more often. I found out about the Rosary Confraternity by reading St. Louis de Montfort’s “Secret of the Rosary”. And I learned more about loving to pray and loving the Rosary by listening to a Rosary CD that Pope John Paul II recorded.

Even so, I was really getting discouraged about finding a good job and had dropped off quite a bit of effort towards getting a job. Being out of work for two Christmases in a row was discouraging and I have a family to support as well. The day that my Rosary Confraternity registration certificate came in the mail was the very same day that I got a telephone call with news that I got my current job. I got a job that is suitable work. With two weeks paid vacation a year, some personal leave days as well, and good health insurance.

A full year later I noticed another “coincidence”. The date on my Rosary Confraternity registration certificate was February 2, 2005. That was the same day I started work. At first I was disappointed because I had to wait a little more than a week before the job began. But now I see that it is confirmation that Our Lady got me my job and that belonging to the Rosary Confraternity (and praying the Rosary) is a very real thing.

Two years later, I’m still working on the same job. The managers love my work. And when I returned from my summer vacation last summer, I was informed that I was no longer a contractor but had become a full-time permanent employee.

I always feel Rosary is the most powerful prayer!!
 
I’m a member too…nice to bump into some of the folks I pray with every week!
 
My friend Suzanna told of of this group and suggested I join. I plan to do so after Baptisim.

One thing that got me wondering. When reading the website it seemed like they hadn’t updated in a long time. There’s no mention of Pope Benedict and it sounds from reading it like John Paul the Great was still with us when it was last updated.

Of course it could be my comp is looking at an older version of the site. Also whats going on with the Luminous Mysteries. I thought they’d been totally integrated into the Church…

Sorry if my question is out of line.

I know what you mean. I know that I’m praying “with” other people when I say my rosary, but it’s nice to have some contact with the people I’m praying “with.”

I just checked the website - today (Feb 3, they are starting another novena to Our Lady of Lourds.
 
I think that they enroll you on a date after they send the certificate so that you can get prepared to receive the indulgence (going to confession, praying for the Holy Father’s intentions, and receiving Holy Communion are requirements for a plenary indulgence). For people who aren’t daily communicants, this would involve an amount of planning ahead, so that’s why I think they pick a date that will come after you’ve received your materials.
 
I am seriously considering this confraternity as soon as I get my prayer life down. God Willing, this will be very soon!
