i’ve been dealing with anxiety, sleepless nights, fear of the future, etc and i feel another strong pull to start praying the rosary. a while back i had this same nudge but i didn’t adhere to it. anyway, i was wondering if anyone has, or knows of, a guided meditation that would help me to focus and understand the meaning of each mystery. a book or link maybe?

thank you all so much…

You might find, “The Rosary: Chain of Hope”, by Fr. Benedict Groeschel helpful.

To help me stay focused, I often add a word or short phrase after the name of Jesus in each Hail Mary prayer that references the mystery being contemplated, a practice mentioned by Pope Paul VI in his 1974 Apostolic Exhortation, Marialis Cultus (On Devotion to the Virgin Mary) , 46, and seconded by Pope John Paul II in his 2002 Apostolic Letter, Rosarium Virginis Mariae (On the Most Holy Rosary) , 33.

I don’t know what the customary additions are. Here are some of the ones I use:
Joyful Mysteries:
  1. Jesus, conceived in your womb.
  2. Jesus, with you when you visited Elizabeth.
  3. Jesus, born in a stable.
  4. Jesus, presented by you in the Temple.
  5. Jesus, when you found him in the Temple.
    Luminous Mysteries:
  6. Jesus, baptized by John the Baptist.
  7. Jesus, changing water into wine at your prompting.
  8. Jesus, proclaiming the kingdom of God.
  9. Jesus, transfigured.
  10. Jesus, instituting the Eucharist.
    Sorrowful Mysteries:
  11. Jesus, in agony in the garden.
  12. Jesus, scourged at the pillar.
  13. Jesus, crowned with thorns.
  14. Jesus, carrying the cross.
  15. Jesus, dying on the cross.
    Glorious Mysteries:
  16. Jesus, rising from the dead.
  17. Jesus, ascending into heaven.
  18. Jesus, sending the Holy Spirit.
  19. Jesus, taking you, body and soul, to heaven.
  20. Jesus, crowning you Queen of heaven.
