Good Morning, Everyone,
Perhaps I’m crazy, but I’ve been thinking these last few years that I’d like to learn to pray a Rosary in Latin. Benedict gave us Summorum Pontificum to encourage us–among other things–to reestablish our acquaintance with the older form, so, why not?
I’m having a little trouble though. I can’t seem to find a written copy of the Hail Mary or Glory Be in Latin. Not certain about the Hail, Holy Queen either.
My parish offers Vespers and has the Pater Noster in it, and I THINK the Salve Regina is the Hail, Holy Queen, so that’s good. (I’d like that verified, actually.)

But for some reason, I can’t find the Hail Mary or Glory Be.

Anyone know where I can find these?

PS. Seems I haven’t prayed one in awhile. Reading another post, I just realized that I need the Apostle’s Creed and the Sign of the Cross too.
My parish’s hymnal has the Nicene Creed in Latin–I think–but not the Apostle’s Creed…

I pray it in Latin and it is a wonderful thing. Are there any Latin scholars out there? I wanted to ask if you could translate some prayers for me. Unfortunately I am still learning the language and have not passed declensions yet, sighes. Thanks.

If you are on Facebook, Fr. Z (Zuhlsdorf) will announce when the Latin Rosary will be prayed on his blog. I think he usually gives about a half hour warning before it starts. Just go to his FB page and “like” to get the updates.

I set out to learn the rosary in Latin the same year I returned to the Church. I took it one prayer at a time and worked through it. Love it. I don’t understand why there were people who say they hated the Latin now.

Certus, O parum unus. Permissum mihi teneo quis vos postulo habeo reddo.

Hmmm, let me see if I can slaughter this one. I think you said you granted permission lol. 😃

I was looking to message you and I cannot. This is a private prayer that I wish not to share on the forum, is there a way I can contact you off thread?

Thanks.

God Bless.

I like latin but ‘mulieribus’ is such a clunky ugly word compared to ‘women’.

Someone earlier linked to fisheaters. I’m a traditionalist myself but fisheaters gives way to much latitude to the SSPX and sedevacantist groups.

I regard it as a dangerous site and warn everybody to stay away from it. Nevertheless I am glad to find the fatima prayer in latin which I have had trouble finding.

Thanks

I’ve heard that about the fisheaters site, but haven’t spent enough time there to know the difference. Just be clear I’m fully in communion with the Church and not trying to steer anyone in the wrong direction.

A lot of really good info can be found on the boston catholic journal site too, I posted that afterward. That site has a lot of Latin prayers and free audio of the rosary and specific prayers in Latin. One can request a CD or just download the audio. I cannot find much info about the but it’s really good.

I’ve got no problem with boston catholic. I learned to say the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Latin from that site. I get the distinct impression from their site that they regard the last 50 years as having been basically a write off as far as the catholic faith goes. (and you would have to look long and hard to prove that wrong). However at least they don’t have the lack of tact to go about blaming the Pope and the council for everything bad that happened in the last 50 years.

Whereas fisheaters have a veneer of acknowledgement of the Pope which is very quickly scraped away when you see what sort of comments are allowed on their forum.

Ave Maria, gratia plena
Dominus tecum. Benedicta tu in mulieribus
et bendictus fructus ventris tui, Iesus.
Sancta Maria, Mater Dei
ora pro nobis peccatoribus
nunc et in hora mortis nostris, Amen

Gloria et Pater, et Filio et Spiritu Sancto
sicut erat in principio et nunc et semper
et in saecula saeculorum, Amen

Salve Regina Mater misericordia,
vita, dulcedo et spes nostra salve.
A te clamamus exules fillii Evae
A te suspiramos gementes et flentes
in hac lacrimarum valle.
Eia ergo advocata nostra
illos tuos misericordes oculos ad nos converte
Et Iesum, benedictum fructum ventris tui.
Nobis post hoc exilium ostende
o clemens, o pia, o dulcis virgo Maria.
Ora pro nobis Sancra Dei Genetrix
ut digni eficiamur promsionibus Christi, amen

But you don’t hear of any political “mulieribus” movement in the U.S. 🙂
