Throughout the ages, it has been proven that the Rosary is a very powerful, spiritual weapon. I have read the story of the Battle of Lepanto, In fact, I began praying the Rosary after reading Louis de Montfort book Secret of the Rosary.
In the beginning I had to force myself to pray the Rosary, but noticed that the more I prayed it, the easier it became.
As a guide I have been using a booklet titled The Rosary for the Holy Souls in Purgatory. What I like about this guide is that I am not neglecting to pray for the Poor Souls, but that does not keep me from asking also for favors. Another thing why I like praying with this particular guide is that each decade is preceded by a scriptural verse. With the passing of time, I have made many of the verses my own. I found them to be useful to quote when I needed to bolster my convictions when talking with others who I know also believe in God, but don’t believe, for example, in purgatory.
Anytime, for whatever reason when I feel frightened or upset, or when I can’t go to sleep, I will pick-up my Rosary and start praying. It calms me down and it gives me the satisfaction that holy Mary and her Son, Jesus, have heard me and certainly will take care of my anxieties. What better consolation can I ask for?
