Rosary Meditation

Hi. How do you meditate on the mysteries of the Rosary, what do you actually do? I find myself imagining that I am there as an observer watching the event unfold but I wondered if others do it differently or if there is any Church guidance on the right way to meditate.

I think that’s what most people do. It varies per person. It’s a private devotion, so there is now prescribed way of thinking.
I myself try to imagine what Our Lady felt as she observed these scenes.

I agree with the response above - try to reflect on it from the standpoint of an observer but also through the gospel.

There are also booklets and DVDs for praying the stations of the cross which reflects the sorrowful mysteries. This is obviously separate from rosary prayer time, but this can be used for the five first Saturdays devotion (i.e. additional meditation on the mysteries)

Catholic movies also help me to visualize the mysteries.

Well, there is Passion of the Christ, Mary of Nazareth, The Young Messiah, etc.

I also like The 13th Day which is about Fatima. That’s not directly about the mysteries but it does relate to Mary, the rosary, and the first Saturday devotion.
