I already know all the prayers of the rosary, but I can’t wrap head around these mysteries. I can’t remember all of them and each day is new one. How can I learn to remember all these. Is it okay if I take time to remember them one at a time. Like taking a week to learn each mystery one by one as I pray it?

A wise priest once told me that there is no shame in finding one set of mysteries, or even one mystery, and meditating on it for a long time.

That year I prayed “The Finding In The Temple” all year long.

Whatever helps you to learn it. You might write down one word as a mnemonic to help with each. I learned the Sorrowful Mysteries as “garden, pillar, crown, cross, crucifixion.” You can also get or print out a little pamphlet or card with the mysteries on them.

I have been praying the rosary daily for several months. I rely on visual aids. Small booklet. A version of a scriptural rosary I cobbled together on my phone using the Laudate app, covering all the mysteries. It keeps me on focus.

Every day I look at each picture and say “Hail Mary” on each.
Then I pray each. If I forget one, which happened at first, I’d open my eyes and refresh my memory and then continue. It becomes easier every time and surprisingly quickly.

If you have the card it would be fine to use it every time if you really can’t remember them. It’s just far easier and allow a nice flow if you can visualise them without looking at the original pictures.

Try finding a little pamphlet of the Rosary Mysteries somewhere. You can also just pull them up online. Look for one with a Scripture passage associated with the mystey too.

I printed all of the Mysteries (with pics) placed them in plastic binder covers and made a section in my Prayer binder. So I simply flip to my Rosary section and reflect/meditate upon the pictures as I’m saying the Rosary. Works out nicely for me, but I’m a very ‘visual’ person.

Any good prayer book will contain all the mysteries, either 15 or 20, explained and dated.

There’s no shame in using an app, a cheat sheet, or even sticky notes until you’re more comfortable. For weeks, when I first took up the discipline, I needed to consult the internet just to figure out which set of mysteries to do.

It’s strange. I grew up saying the rosary at home with my parents but the Mysteries were something I never heard about until I was in my 40s.

I have all the mysteries written down on my phone as well as the fruits attached to them and quick Bible verses for each. I read them off my phone during the rosary 🙂

I will private message you a copy of what I have written down on my phone since it’s quite long. I hope you enjoy it.

Don’t be discouraged. Do whatever works for you:)
I had to pray with a small booklet or smartphone for a while, now I don’t need them.

I have an app on my phone to pray with. I used a book with reflections prior to that. I’ve never been memorized enough to just recite everything with no help. I’m hoping as I use the app on a daily basis (love that I can pray it on a 1/2 hour car ride while driving) that I’ll get more memorized with the mysteries portion (and the Hail Holy Queen, which always trips me up).

Someone I know told me that he and a car load of people were praying the rosary on a trip whilst driving.

If I tried that I’d be part of the landscape in a few seconds.

Just reciting the Hail Mary fifty times isn’t praying rosary, that’s just repetition, to do it properly one needs to visualise the mysteries whilst praying.

I do this excluding all and any other thing, it’s important and meaningful if done that way. It takes a half hour, just a half hour spent with the Mother of God!

Of course it is @DLedoux .

In Marialis Cultus , a document written by Pope Paul VI about Mary , he said of the Rosary "The faithful should feel serenely free in its regard ".

Don’t get legalistic about the Rosary .

Pope Paul VI also said , “As is well known, at one time there was a custom, still preserved in certain places, of adding to the name of Jesus in each Hail Mary reference to the mystery being contemplated. And this was done precisely in order to help contemplation and to make the mind and the voice act in unison.”

That is something I do and it may help you .

So for the 5th Joyful Mystery you might pray “Hail Mary , full of grace , the Lord is with you . Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus , found in the Temple …”

For the 1st Sorrowful Mystery you might pray "Hail Mary , full of grace , the Lord is with you . Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus , in Gethsemane…

For the 1st Mystery of Light "Hail Mary , full of grace , the Lord is with you . Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus , baptised in the Jordan …

For the 2nd Glorious Mystery "Hail Mary , full of grace , the Lord is with you . Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus , at the Father’s right hand…

Below is a link to Marialis Cultus . It’s well worth reading .

That one is a bit of a stumbling block for me always in the joyful mysteries, sort of. I always think of how anxious I would be when Jesus was lost. 🤔 Then of course, I’d be happy to find Him, sure! But mostly relieved.

(mia Culpa, I have digressed.)

Some people can visualize and drive, esp when your phone app is doing some of the talking. Remember, some of us live in very rural areas with few traffic maneuvers.

Another thing you can do to help visualize is google artwork of each mystery and pray as you look at it. I love doing this at my desk at work.

I don’t think we ever went for a drive where Mom didn’t bring out her rosary and we all prayed. We did a lot of touring vacations and it’s what we did first thing in the morning getting in the car and again when we got back in the car after lunch.
