Which one of these prayers is the best to say? I usually say the Divine Mercy just because ( and i know it’s not a good reason) the rosary is so long, and if it’s dark and i’m tired, i’m ashamed to say that i’ve even fallen asleep while praying it. Sometimes i pray both of them. But what is the essential differance between them? Are my intentions answered more with the rosary? I just learned the Divine Mercy existed about two weeks ago so i’m kind of dumb when it comes to it, so take that into account while answering.

You don’t have to choose. Pray both daily. I do.

If you fall asleep praying the Rosary, your guardian angel finishes for you 🙂

I agree, pray both. The rosary, especially a scriptural rosary, takes you through the life of Jesus with Mary, allowing you to walk in their footsteps. When I pray the scriptural rosary, I place myself in each mystery as if I was there. I try to vision what it would have looked like or how Jesus and Mary felt physically and emotionally. I have received many, many blessings and graces from praying the rosary. I have had many prayers answered and even questions were answered. It is a deeply contemplative prayer…provided you take the time! It doesn’t seem so long when you began to *experience *the rosary. Divine Mercy asks for Gods Mercy on us and the whole world while you meditate on the passion of Jesus. As Catholics, its not a question of either/or, but of both/and… I suggest you don’t wait until bedtime, if you work and can’t get up earlier, then pray *before * you eat dinner! And take your time! Its always good to sacrifice! :gopray2:

I like the Divine Mercy since it can be chanted and I enjoy singing. I don’t say it very often though and the next time I do will probably be if I chant it in my car on my long drive back home once finals are over next week.

You don’t need to say a whole Rosary in one go - just say two or three decades at a time (and maybe the rest when you wake up in the morning). That takes about the same length of time as a Divine Mercy. Course I say both, but I try not to save either for last thing at night - bound to fall asleep during them if I do!

I know this will sound like I just fell off the turnip truck, but are you serious about that or is that a joke?

The last month or so I’ve been guilty of falling asleep halfway through the rosary, so what you said sounds like extra credit!
(although I suppose my gaurdian angel may be tired of picking up the slack!)

Pray both. 🙂 They are both the best. Also, I heard many cases that Praying the Devine Mercy for the dying is really great.

I agree with everybody here: pray BOTH.

I used to be TERRIBLE at praying the Rosary, so bad that I neglected praying it for a long time. Then I took up the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy and, surprise!!, I soon became interested in the Rosary again and actually love praying both the Chaplet and the Rosary.

Try using a “Scriptural Rosary.”
They are great, and several of them are available on
amazon.com

ALSO, if you don’t want to spend the money on a book,
go to Google, and type in the words SCRIPTURAL ROSARY.
You will get several hits. The one online from Holy Spirit Interactive is very beautiful.

God bless !!

That’s how it happened with me, too.

I pray the rosary daily, and do the DM chaplet a few times a week.

I am very ashamed to admit it, but I haven’t prayed the rosary in a long while, well I did pray it when my dad had a heart attack, and I meant to pray it everyday since, but surprise it’s almost a month later and I haven’t prayed the rosary agian. I want to, I think I want to. Has anyone else gone through this? I once prayed the rosary everyday. Am I just lazy? I noticed many people suggested to pray both the divine mercy chaplet and the rosary, do you mean both in the same day? I did find that when I prayed the rosary I thought I should pray the DMC too, incase someone died, and when I prayed the DMC I thought I should pray the rosary, because of our Lady’s request to the three fatima children. I seemed to feel overhelmed. How can I find a way to pray again, because in all honesty, I lost the desired to pray. Boy, this is sad. does anyone have any advice.

I must say that I too agree that both should be prayed. I did try to pray the rosary on S, M, W, Thurs, S and the DVC on Tues and Fri.

A good way to get back into saying the Rosary is to start off slow - maybe say just two or three decades a day, say some in the morning and some at night if necessary.

If you have an mp3 player, CD discman or walkman (showing my age there 🙂 ) you should have it as an audio. That way if you’re on public transport, walking somewhere, stuck in traffic or in a queue you can be saying it.
