Rosary question concerning how to pray it

I think St.Dominic or something said he had appariton that mary want ed people to pray rosary every day and that they got special graces if they did. is that IF and only IF they pray the WHOLLE rosary every day or just a decade? IDK thx 👍
 
In between, not just one decade (although you will receive some graces for that) and from what I’ve read she didn’t mean the entire 15 decades all at once (at least the Rosary Confraternity doesn’t ask that, although St Louis de Montfort would like that) but that you strive to pray the decades so that you say the full Rosary (15 decades) at least once per week. I don’t believe that when she supposedly appeared to St. Dominic (according to Bl. Alan de la Roche) that she stated any time frame (remember Heaven doesn’t have time as we know it). She did state that truly devout recitation while reflecting on the each mystery, was important.
If you are thinking/planning to pray the Rosary regularly, you would receive extra spiritual benefits for each rosary that you pray by joining the Rosary Confraternity: Rosary Center, P.O. Box 3617, Portland, OR 97208:thumbsup:

BTW, usually, when people talk of praying a Rosary (in a church, etc) they are referring to 5 decades.

so if I may ask more questions. Mary says that we should pray the
DEVOTION OF THE FIVE FIRST SATURDAYS

and then she wants us to just pray the rosary normally whenever or once a week or something. I havent read the book by Sr.Lucia or anything so what are the points I do?

the link I went to was confusing. it randomly said something about confession I was not even talking about :confused:

could someone just make a quick list what to do for praying the rosary
  1. do this every first saturday of the first month
  2. spend 15 minutes each time with her talking or meditateing ( which ever one im supposed to do idk :confused: )
  3. pray like this
  4. do this every year? :confused:
please try to just make a short list for me to read would be awesome! 😃

I have no idea. I prefer the Franciscan Crown anyhow

No, actually I wasn’t (although have also practiced that one). I was speaking of everyday praying of the Rosary or whenever possible (helps with traffic jams and insomnia too 😃 ). Bl Alan de la Roche (Dominican monk of 14th c.) claimed that Mary had appeared to St. Dominic. That is completely a different (supposed) appearance than the Fatima apparition (in which Mary requested the Five First Saturdays). Whether you want to believe the Dominican legend of the beginnings of the Rosary or not - it’s a very powerful spiritual weapon to which numerous popes have also had a devotion.

There is a set of mysteries assigned to each day. It doesn’t have to be all that formal, how you do it is up to you. Generally people pray the corresponding mysteries for the day. You can pray it once a day, or a couple of times a week, it is up to you. You can also pray more than one set of mysteries per day, or make your own schedule of when you pray which mysteries.

The important thing is to meditate on the mysteries during each decade. Also, you can state a prayer intention or more than one at the beginning.

Just relax, sit somewhere comfortable, and spend some time in the presance of God and Mary.😃
 
You’ve already gotten good answers, so I’ll just add a few things:

When I was first getting started with the Rosary a few years ago, the “How to” page of the Rosary Center site really helped me, especially when it came to meditating on the mysteries; for each decade, they give you 10 brief meditations, 1 for each “Hail Mary.”

The real genius of the Rosary is the meditations, not the verbal prayers.

According to Dominican tradition, Mary told St. Dominic that the Rosary would be a powerful weapon for fighting the Albigensian heresy which taught, among other things, that the body and the material world were evil. The current Mysteries of the Rosary as we know them probably developed among the early Dominicans and other preachers-against-heresy as a way of helping people understand that Jesus and Mary both lived in the material world, in bodies like ours, and that the only true power in our world is that of our loving God (not some evil co-god, as the heretics believed). Christ, through His Passion, even sanctified suffering.

Just thought I’d share that story. 🙂 To this day, the Rosary is still one of the best ways for us to better understand Christ, our God Incarnate.

If you go to www.catholicity.com and order the Mary Foundation Rosary, The one saying the Rosary has a little story at the end of it telling about it and how to pray it as well. Just a little tip.

i think the confession stuff has to do with the partial indulgence you can receive by praying the rosary.

Actually, it’s better then that. Confession PLUS Communion within 8 days of praying the Rosary can earn a plenery indulgence under certain conditions. Reciting it in Church, for example.🙂
