Rosary Question, is this right?

Am I praying the Rosary correctly?

I do all four sets of mysteries every day.
When I finish one set of mysteries, I go right into the next.
When all four sets are done, I pray the Hail Holy Queen and the After Rosary Prayer.

Should I be re-praying the apostles creed, one our father, and three Hail Marys before EACH set of mysteries?
And should I be praying the Hail Holy Queen and Rosary Prayer after Each set of mysteries?

Or am I doing it right by have one Apostles Creed for the entire four sets?

If you pray all the mysteries, then you only need to do the introduction (the “tail”) once. Then you just continue from one set of mysteries to the next. This is why the rosaries worn on religious habits have the 15 or 20 decades consecutively.

The rosary is a popular devotion and I don’t think there’s a wrong way to say it, within ordinary limits.

I don’t know of any prayers in the Roman rite that are as popular to ordinary Catholics as the Rosary.

Once in a while, a priest may say something about not performing devotions (of any kind) in a superstitious way. On EWTN, there are a couple rosary programs. In one of them, the prayers are said so quickly I can’t think of the words that I’m praying.
 
The Rosary can be prayed in a number of ways. The Dominican tradition doesn’t usually have the Apostles’ Creed or the preceding Our Father or 3x Hail Mary. Concluding with the Salve Regina is the usual option but it is optional.
 
When my mom taught me to pray the rosary, back in the ‘60’s she never said anything about praying the mysteries.
 
I think the Salve Regina is supposed to be prayed at the end of the last Glorious Mystery which is the Coronation.
 
I hope you are spending a decent amount of time in meditation on each of the mysteries. Going bing and bang and finishing them all in a short period of time does not cut it - at least in my opinion.
 
I have only been praying the rosary 5 yrs but your comment brings to mind when were the mysteries added, or were they always. a good research project <;)
 
I believe the meditation of the mysteries has always been it’s original intent, all the way back to Saint Dominic… But I could be wrong.
 
4 mysteries a day is a tall order

i am well aware of the peace & tranquility saying the rosary daily can bring

Mother Mary specifically requested that we do it…
 
One of the reasons I’m not a great fan of public recitation of the rosary. Most of the time it’s like a race and becomes garbled.
 
Gosh I pray one set of mysteries and it takes me an hour! Good on you for doing all 4 mysteries 😄

I agree. Time is needed to meditate on the Mysteries to get the most out of it. To me it’s more of a private prayer.

Without a list of scriptural references for each bead in each decade, I’m lost. 😦

My meditation skills are awful. I can struggle through a rosary without the scriptural cues, but my mind wanders very badly. I’m not sure how common this problem is. My wife, who prays along with me, simply looks at a picture in a small booklet we both have to help her. I tried that but it was of limited help. I have had these kind of problems my entire life, and they greatly affected my scholastic abilities as a child.

I just make mine up… I mean it may not be word for word from the NAB, but I’ll just say something that helps me remember that mystery.

So to start the baptism of Jesus I remember the Pharisees asking John if he is the Christ. For the first beed. For the second I remember John saying, I am not he. For the third I remember him saying, “I baptize with water. He will baptize with the spirit.” Then behold the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world… I should be baptized by you. Etc… etc…

I would say personal preference, at the end of the day praying is your personal space and time with the lord
I end with the lord prayer and remembering anyone who has gone before us, or in need of a prayer
