HI everyone. I’m a non Catholic (but baptized Catholic as a baby) trying to figure out the direction of my faith. One thing that I am curious about is the rosary. Is it useful for non catholics to pray the rosary? What is its purpose?

thanks!

it is useful for every Christian to pray the rosary. In essence this prayer is an extended meditation on the Gospel, directed at key events in the life and mission of Christ the Redeemer. It is of course not the only way to meditate with the Gospel, but its efficacy has been experienced by generations of Catholics through hundreds of years.

The rosary is nothing more than to contemplate with Mary the face of Christ.

I would suggest you read Pope John Paul II’s Apostolic Letter osarium Virginis MariaeR. It will give you a wonderful insight on the nature of the rosary and the union between Mary and Jesus.

Hope that helps!

You may want to check out this site:theholyrosary.org/

And since you were baptized as a Catholic when you were a baby, even you are not practicing, you are a Catholic.

I hope you find your way back home.
God bless!

The rosary and it’s meditations are all Christ centered. My wife and I do our rosary together every night, it is my favorite part of the day.

Great, thanks everyone :). I really think I might get one and try it out. I appreciate the feedback.

I encourage non-Catholics to pray the Rosary. The purpose is to come to know Jesus through his Mother, as we contemplate the life of Jesus as seen through the eyes of his Mother. “To Jesus, through Mary”, is often used to describe the Rosary.👍

I don’t think any Rosary is wasted, I once read that Mary takes our prayers in the form of Roses and places them at the Throne of God.

Plus…Epistle Of Saint Paul To The Ephesians
6:11 Put you on the armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the deceits of the devil. 12** For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood; but against principalities and power, against the rulers of the world of this darkness, against the spirits of wickedness in the high places**. 13 Therefore take unto you the armour of God, that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and to stand in all things perfect.

So no use attacking the above with anyway man made weapon, the Rosary is a spiritual weapon for a spiritual war…like the above.

Saint Pio…" The Rosary is the weapon."

Anyone can pray it.

If you contact : rosaryarmy.com/ , they will send you a rosary, free of charge…You only have to promise to pray, at least once, for Rosary Army’s apostolate of sharing the rosary with all.

love, Zooey, (a United Methodist who is a volunteer rosary maker for the wonderful Rosary Army).

Oh great, thanks. I may actually buy one though since I am able but it’s wonderful to know there are options out there.

I know that you have made up your mind to pray the Rosary and that is wonderful. I just wanted to share something. I love praying the Rosary. I see it as calling on Mary to be with me as we pray together to her son. I picture Jesus really hearing my prayer and praise because I am right there praying in the leeway of His mother’s presence and love. The Rosary is a prayer to Jesus, it is not praying directly to Mary…it is praying with Our Blessed Mother to her son and in turn venerating her and calling on her as an intercessor for us her children.

The Rosary is a beautiful prayer. Every Christian should give it a try.

The greatest thing about this prayer is that it is a meditation of the life of Christ as outlined in the Scripture.

The best document on the the Rosary is “Rosarium Virginis Mariae” by Pope John Paul II. Everyone interested in the Rosary should read this.
