I have a question… towards the end of the Rosary is the prayer saying… “grant, we beseech thee, that by meditating opon these mysteries of the most holy Rosary of the blessed Virgin Mary… that we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise”.

My question – how can I imitate the mysteries and how can one obtain what they contain? Things like the “Annnciation”, “The Birth”, “The Wedding”, “The Crucifixion”…etc…

any (name removed by moderator)ut would be appreciated.

Each decade represents a virtue…ie Jesus is crowned with thorns…I believe is courage…anyway I would have to look them up. When you are praying each decade you are praying for that virtue that is associated with that decade.

The annunciation : Saying yes to God when He calls upon us even when things don’t seem as planned. For the love of humility.

The visitation: For charity toward our neighbor and spreading good news to those who are important to us.

The presentation: The virtue of obedience in giving ourselves fully to God.

The nativity: Imitating the spirit of poverty.

Finding Jesus in the Temple: For the virtue of piety in recognizing where God wants us as He uses us as His instruments in proclaiming the kingdom of God.

These can be done with the other mysteries as well. Obviously we cannot replicate the actual event but it is what we can see in the event that we must reflect upon.

I hope that his helps…teachccd 🙂

thank you Lane… I think I am getting the idea. Usually what i do as I say the Rosary is while I am going to bed I dedicate each section of the Rosary to something specific, ie, the children at St. Jude Childrens hospital, the poor souls most in need of his mercy, my mother, etc… just was wondering about how one imitates the mysteries… guess I still have a looooooooooooong way to go in the understanding department. Thanks again.

Thank you, the picture is clearing.

I printed out pictures of the mysteries and reflect(meditate) on them while saying the prayers. You can use a search engine to find good pics of the mysteries. It works for me.😉
