Rosary Question

Hello all, At the parish I go to in the Chapel there is a stand with rosary’s on it. Attached to each rosary is a name tag of a high school student/child/RCIA member going through the confirmation process. The parish wants all of the rosary’s prayed for each member soon so they encouraged parish members to pray one with the intention of them. So I decided to take one, here is where the problem comes in. I am not in a state of grace and had committed a mortal sin and will be going to confession on saturday, but god does not here the prayers of sinners and therefore my rosary would be invalid I would assume, Is this true and should I just return it to the church and grab one after I have confessed my sins or pray it.

Well, I’m not trying to be a smart a** but God hears the prayers from virtually nobody but sinners. If fact, if you are in a state of sin your best bet is to be praying to God for his forgiveness.

All of us sin every day. Its in our fallen nature. But prayer lifts us up out of that terrible state. So pray, pray, pray. Then get to confession.

Even though you are not in a state of grace, no prayer is unheard. God hears our prayers, even if we are in mortal sin. So it´s a beautiful gesture to pray that rosary now and after saturday!

I would agree with the previous posters. Prayer is heard from everyone. When in a state of mortal sin prayer is the best thing you can do, as well as confession. I would recommend to pray before and after confession.

Those IHM sisters of my Parochial school days, taught that one should continue prayers when not in a state of Grace, though the enemy would like us to not do so. So he puts it in our heads that prayers have no value, and God won’t hear them, as long as we haven’t had mortal sin absolved. On the contrary, once we do confess and receive absolution, all the merits and graces our prayers would have gained for us and those we prayed for, are restored to us retroactively. So pray that rosary, and get to confession as planned; your prayers are heard, and the intentions will be applied, and the merits and graces given. The idea that God doesn’t hear the prayer of sinners, so therefore your prayers would be invalid, comes straight from the devil. Don’t listen to him.
