Rosary Question

I hope I’ve posted this in the right place!

I am learning the Rosary from Laudate, Under the mystery of the Assumption of the Virgin into heaven, it has:
‘Blessed art thou of the most high God above all the women upon the earth;and blessed be the Lord God, which hath created the heavens and the earth, which hath directed thee to the cutting off of the head of the chief of our enemies…’

What enemy is being referred to here? Is this implying that in saying yes to carrying Christ, Mary has cut off the head of death or?? The Catholics that I have asked do not know the answer.

I’m guessing the quote is referring to Satan. Mary is his nemesis, having given birth to the Savior. Mary is the new Eve, who never gave in to temptation – never sinned.
 
I believe it is in reference to the passage in Genesis 3 where God tells the serpent that tempted Eve,

Gen 3: 14-15 said:
14 Then the LORD God said to the snake:
Because you have done this,
cursed are you
among all the animals, tame or wild;
On your belly you shall crawl,
and dust you shall eat
all the days of your life.
15 I will put enmity between you and the woman,
and between your offspring and hers;
They will strike at your head,
while you strike at their heel.

The enemies are the forces of darkness, demons, and their leader is of course Satan/Lucifer/The Devil.

The Bible verse quoted is Judith chapter 13, verse 18. Judith was a Jewish heroine who beheaded an enemy of the Israelites named Holofernes, the General of the armies of the Assyrian King Nebuchadnezzar. Elements of the story call to mind the prophecy in Genesis, and Judith is considered to be a sort of forerunner of the Blessed Virgin Mary because of this. When it comes to praying a scriptural Rosary, there are no verses in the Bible which talk about the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin specifically. Many people choose verses from Judith for this particular mystery, applying them to the Blessed Virgin, since Judith is considered a sort of forerunner of The Blessed Virgin.

It is the Devil whose head she cut off. Before God sent Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden, he promised a saviour and also made a prediction that the woman would stamp out the head of the serpent See Genesis 3:15
