I have heard some extreme traditionlaists say that in order to recieve the benifits that Our Lady promised, that one must say all the decades of the rosery (joyful, sorrowfull, glorious) in one day, everyday. and that simply saying one decade each day is not enough. How should we respond to this?

You shouldn’t respond. That may, in fact, be what our Blessed Mother is calling *them *to do. And she may have other expectations of you.

What mother expects the same for or from each of her children?

Personally, I feel called to pray the same decade multiple times during the day. Although sometimes I toss in the luminous mysteries just because.

This isn’t magic . . . it is love.

There are no set “rules” for the Rosary. It has changed over the years and will probablly change again.
The Dominican Father at the Rosary Center say to pray fifteen mysteries of the Rosary each week.

joyful, sorrowful, glorious - what happened to luminous? Are they so traditional they can’t take these newfangled inventions?

Traditionalists have no problem with the new Luminous mysteries
as Mysteries PER SE.

What they object to is REPLACING a day’s recitation of the traditional mysteries, with the Luminous.
The reason is that the Rosary has traditionally been called
“Mary’s Psalter” - “psalter” because the 150 Hail Mary’s of a
15 decade rosary correspond to the 150 Psalms of the Bible.

Traditionalists usually wouldn’t mind saying an extra five decades of mysteries on a Rosary on one particular day of the week,
but they would not REPLACE the historic Joyful Mysteries of Thursday with the Luminous mysteries instead.

The mysteries in the Luminous mysteries are beautiful and very enriching spiritually. Although I’m not a Traditionalist, I prefer to say BOTH the Joyful AND the Luminous on Thursdays, which makes way for the Sorrowful on Friday, then the Glorious on both Saturday and Sunday. But I love the Luminous mysteries.
