I’ve recently become interested in rosary rings since we saw one in class. To me the traditional one is a bit clunky (not sure if that’s the right word). Basicly Im not a big fan of it, althoguh I do like the devotion.

Sorry for rambling, but does anyone know were to get one? Also is it okay to wear it? I tend to fiddle around with rings when I wear them and thought it would be a great reminder to pray and keep my mind focused on our Lord.

Also should I get it blessed? And can i break up the mysteries throughout the day instead of saying them all at once?

They are available for sale in a number of places.

I got mine at a cathedral gift shop, where it was in a basket full of these small metal rosary rings, near medals, rosaries, and similar objects. The basic models shouldn’t be expensive. They’re also available online; if you like, check reputable merchants.

I haven’t heard of an inherent reason why you shouldn’t wear one that’s wearable. (Mine has an opening wider than my finger and would be hard to wear while I carry out the normal work of the day, but I’ve heard of and seen others that are more natural to wear.)

Here I’m thinking analogously of discussions about wearing a full five-decade rosary, a custom that’s been discussed even more than a custom of wearing rosary rings. There are bad reasons for wearing a rosary, but the existence of bad reasons does not cancel out good reasons for wearing a rosary.
Also should I get it blessed?
It’s a good idea–I plan on getting mine blessed sometime, and I haven’t heard of any policy that would bless similar objects but oppose blessing rosary rings.
And can i break up the mysteries throughout the day instead of saying them all at once?
If it helps you, it can also be a good idea. The “successful” or reverent praying of the rosary doesn’t require saying an entire set of five decades at a time. (There are some circumstances where you may want to pray an entire set at a time, such as if you are trying to obtain the plenary indulgence, but you can then simply pray a set that way when you want.)

The Rosary rings were very popular in Ireland. When Ireland was a part of the United Kingdom the Catholic Church and Catholic practices were prohibited. The Rosary ring enabled the Catholic faithful to pray the Rosary discreetly without attracting attention to themselves. :signofcross:

Thank you both for the replies. I didn’t expect to get such a detailed answer. 🙂

I have several rosary rings. There is a man at my parish who seems to have made it his personal ministry to give one to every child he sees at Mass. 🙂 Since my children are very young, I hold onto them for now. One is kept in my purse, since it is less “clunky” than it would be to have a full set of beads, so I can use it to pray wherever I am. It would be very uncomfortable to wear all of the time, though.

You can get them from Autom (www.Autom.com). They sell for $0.29 to $.99. I carry one in my pocket when I don’t have room for my regular rosary. I have two of them, and both of them have been blessed.

Do they sell the items individually or do they sell just in bulk? 🍿
Autom sells mostly in bulk, so be prepared to get 50 or so in the mail.

Leaflet Missal will sell you the exact number you want, no more or less. In the long run Leaflet Missal is more cost effective.

leslie85, you’re welcome!

I’ve heard before that Autom sells such items in bulk. I looked at www.autom.com myself and didn’t find any rosary rings for individual sale. The prices are given as “[price] each,” but the listings also have numbers for pieces per package. I checked the specific pages (there are a lot of kinds), and the ring pages that worked for me didn’t have anything sold in packages of 1.

Then I tested my idea with a purchase quantity of 1: yes, the price in the cart was the total cost per package. In other words, if a rosary ring cost “$0.50 each” and the package contained 20 rings, ordering a quantity of “1” would lead to a base purchase price of $10. I didn’t test exhaustively :D, but I didn’t see any obvious and simple way on that site of ordering individual rosary rings. If anyone knows of one there, please share it.

Of course, you can buy individual rings elsewhere. 😉

You can also buy in bulk, reserve a quantity for yourself and maybe your family, friends, and other loved ones, and give away the rest. I suppose that if you know of a church with a gift shop that accepts such contributions (do check with all relevant parties first), you may consider contributing the rest.

I have yet to do either, but because I’ve certainly found a rosary ring handy, and I hope that readers of this thread will too, I can imagine the possibilities for making a larger purchase and spreading the wealth.
