I am just curious if any of you pray the Holy Rosary with a Rosary Tape or CD. Also do you pray the whole prayers with the tape or just answer (ex. Holy Mary Mother of God…) like with a group
Thanks and God Bless

I do use a rosary CD when I am on an exercise bike, treadmill or health-rider, I just pray along until I get out of breath, then pray silently. Helps me because I can’t hold a rosary and keep track, it also helps me time my exercise. don’t pray the rosary with or without CD in the car because I get too much into it to pay attention to the road. the Mother of Mercy healing rosary by Dana Scallon is my favorite, we use it in our cenacle, but I have several others, chosen mainly for the musical interludes.

I have a rosary CD but I haven’t used it yet because I don’t have a CD player in my car. I want to get one soon however, as my drive is about an hour each way and it would be great use of my time!

I don’t pray with a rosary tape or CD at the moment- I’ve sort of fallen away from the practice of saying the rosary- I’m trying to get back into the practice of it. I used to pray the rosary whenever it was on EWTN. That sounds like a good idea though. I’ll have to see if I can find my rosary CD.

By the way, the small text you used is hard on old eyes (or in my case, eyes that just think they’re old:nerd: ).

I didn’t know there were Rosary CDs available, but it sounds like a good idea. Putting it on my iPod would be really convenient for praying the Rosary during the day, while I’m on the bus or walking to or from class, when I can’t be messing around with the beads or trying to count on my fingers. I ran a quick search and found a decent one available online through iTunes. It’s a pretty good deal, too - $9.99 for what would normally be a 2-CD set (even though I’ll only be using 3/4 of it, but that’s a topic for another thread), so I’ll be getting that next payday.

I have four rosary CDs, but my very favorite is David Phillips’ The Prayer of the Church. The music is very reminicent of my childhood and has helped me remember long-ago favorites. It’s very soothing (especially the male voice… the female voice gets a little emotive). The first part of the CD is the rosary (not any specific mysteries), then the rest of the CD is various other well-known prayers. I also have Mother Angelica’s CD and the Still Waters Divine Mercy Chaplet and Rosary. They’re all great on long drives or long walks.

I do and treat it just like any other group Rosary, figuring God knows my heart. I pray it while driving and find that it’s not a distraction if you let the calm meditation just flow into and out of you.

I use The Mary Foundation Rosary CD and it also has the DMC. No music, just the prayers and mysteries. That’s my favorite.
Pax tecum,

Personally, I find my mind wanders more when I listen to a CD while saying the rosary.

I have never heard of this, and therefore never used it, however I have seen that on EWTN they have about 15 minutes where someone says the full Rosary and the full Mercy Chaplet.

The idea seems useful…but I think that if you take out the personal intimate communion with god from prayer then you sort of miss the point of The Rosary and other prayers. Of course if you are in able to say the rosary yourself or it is your first time doing so then it seems very helpful.

I personally used Virtual Rosary for my first couple of Rosaries.

I have a Latin rosary CD led by our beloved JPII-- the mystery introductions are in English but the rest is in Latin. This CD really helped me get started praying the rosary in Latin (although I still have to peek at the Apostles Creed and the Fatima prayer!)

I tend to pray the entire prayer, both the first half and the “response” portion.

Pax tecum,
I just went to the website, and it says that the CD is only 17 minutes long. That’s about how long it takes me to get through only 5 decades.

Does this CD announce the mysteries before each decade, and take you through all 20 mysteries? Or is it just generic to the mysteries, and allows you to announce whatever mysteries you want?

I’d like to get something that announces the mysteries before each decade since I don’t know them all yet.

Pete
