OK, some help here.
-I pray the first Hail Mary, what do I think about for the next nine?
-How do I keep my mind from constantly wandering?
-Is the Blessed Mother praying with me even if I don’t think to ask her to pray with me?
-What are some key points to think about for each of the 20 mysteries?

I know my faith is not dependent on praying the Rosary. But, the big but, how many of us would pass up a free increase in percentage pay in on any asset? If your bank said, "We are now going to pay you 8% on your savings account. You gonna object?

The rosary is like extra interest. We don’t have to take it, but why not take it? Besides, I want to love Jesus and our blessed Mother more.

For those of you who pray each day or several times a day, what do you think about?

Thanks

It’s difficult for me to say necessarily what I think about when I pray, for that’s apt to change. Just as I hear Mass somewhat differently each time, so I pray the Rosary somewhat differently each time. Distractions are bound to come with prayer, and the best way to resist them is with a good meditation.

The Mysteries of the Rosary are, of course, taken from Scripture. Thus, a Scriptural Rosary, saying a relevant verse or two before each Ave, is very conducive to meditation. Moreover, perhaps the Rosary Confraternity would have some devotional guides available to help focus the thoughts.

I’d heartily recommend a brief book, or at least the first part thereof dealing with the Rosary proper: books.google.com/books?id=ybwTAAAAQAAJ&printsec=frontcover&dq=rosary+guide&hl=en&sa=X&ei=A4IiU7OiDYjyqgGp1IHgDw&ved=0CEYQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=rosary%20guide&f=false. It’s older, no doubt, but the truths it contains are ever new. Read the first part, and then put some of its recommendations to good use.

God bless you.

Sure!

The Rosary is a structured way for Christians to meditate on Jesus Christ, and so, when reflecting on the 20 mysteries, we of course meditate on the face of Christ with Mary,

That being said:
  • For the next nine, continue to meditate on the decade which you’re honoring.
  • Do your best to focus on prayer and nothing else, for not paying attention to what we’re saying when in the presence of God is very disrespectful. Do what you can to minimize distractions prior to kneeling down. Asking the angels (particularly your own guardian angel) may also help.
-Since you’re honoring her with the ‘Hail Mary’ prayer, she will indeed be in your presence.
  • Key points? Try and associate yourself with the mysteries which you reflect upon. :gopray:
No problem!

There is a book called ‘The Secret of the Rosary’ by St. Louis De Montfort. This book was a primary factor in getting me to pray the Rosary, or at least part of it…hahaha… each day. The information contained in that book may help you to stay more in-tuned with Christ when praying the Rosary.

Tender blessings. 🙂

Hi atassina,

I have some little Rosary booklets and leaflets that have the Rosary Mysteries in them, along with the prayers and mystery pictures in them.

These booklets and leaflets help me to focus on my prayers/praying. I look at the pictures and they help me to focus while praying.

I was able to get these at my local Catholic book store.

I have been recommending a scriptural rosary where you read scripture between each Hail Mary.

Google it

Or in iTunes type in “scriptural rosary” and download the free Rosary Army podcasts that come up.

They can guide you through.

Hi!
I pray several rosaries a day, usually while I am out walking. I spend the Hail Mary’s focused upon the mystery I am praying. I try to see myself in that place and time and meditate upon the deeper meaning it has for my soul so my precise focus for the mystery may vary from time to time. I do feel that Our Lady is with me while I pray. Every rosary I pray makes me love Jesus even more!

God Bless!

Having done Centering Prayer for over 30 years, has helped me to pray the Rosary better.

The Hail Mary’s become sacred prayer words, which are used to help keep the focus of my intention on the sacred mysteries.

At first, the mysteries are imagined in the mind as sort of a video as they took place,

However, after some years, the deeper meaning behind the mysteries began to take blossom through God’s grace.

I think also that learning how to pray the Jesus Prayer using the Rosary, as the Orthodox do, helped me to understand the true meditative aspects of the Rosary, rather than imaging of the events of the mysteries.

In all, remember that as you pray, you are praying in the presence of Jesus Christ the King who dwell within your being, and the King always brings his court with him, and of course his Mother, the Queen of Heaven.
