The Rosary is my favourite prayer and I would encourage every Catholic to become familiar with it. I think it is great that Eastern Catholics also choose to include the Rosary in their spiritual lives, but I think it is important for them to also preserve their own unique forms of prayer such as The Prayer of the Heart and the Akathist. These prayers should be used both privately and in the Divine Liturgy, wereas the Rosary should be a private devotion only. The reason I say this is because the Rosary is a distinctly Latin form of prayer and does not belong in the Ancient and Venerable Divine Liturgies of the East. Eastern Catholics have their own traditions that greatly enrich the whole Church, and these traditions must be preserved and protected. I encourage my Eastern bretheren to pray the Rosary, but only if this does not cause them to neglect the beautifully ancient spirituality of the East.
