I have a set of rosery beads that the chain has broken. Is there a proper way to dispose of broken rosery beads?

Your rosary could be repaired by a jeweller, especially if this one has sentimental value for you.

Our priest at our church takes any thing that is religious that is broken or damaged. He also takes items that just need a new home, He says we are not suppose to just throw them away but it’s part of his job to take care of those items.

Often rosary beads can easily be repaired. The fabric stores offer little jewerly kits. They are easy to fix and it doesn’t cost much at all.

God Bless

If it is not blessed, you are free to just toss it, although this could lead to scandal, and is generally discouraged. If it were burnable, you would burn it, then bury the ashes. If not, you can smash it or somehow render it unrecognizable, and bury it, preferably someplace that will not be walked upon.

There are lots of people who enjoy repairing broken Rosaries. Ask around.

My husband repairs broken Rosaries. He’s always on the lookout in flea markets or antique stores for “rosary fragments”–chains, centers, beads, crucifixes, etc." and he has several catalogs and stores that he buys from, so he can usually match an older Rosary style-wise.

He makes his own links from wire. A broken chain should be very re-pairable. If nothing else, the beads could be re-strung with new links.

As long as we’re on the subject, I have 7 or 8 rosaries that are brand new, that have been sent to me by different missionaries, etc. Does anybody know of somebody that would need them? If you give me an address, I’ll send them to them postage paid. I just want someone to have them that can use them. Let me know. Our local church won’t take them.

get it fixed or burry it in you backyard. my grandma burries hers in her garden and she has the best tomatos! 😉

Hmm, that’s really too bad that your church won’t take them. . . ? How about your nursing home or senior living community? I bet they would love them. 🙂

You should check with an area hospitals. Our hospitals around here take rosaries and hand them out to people who need them at the hospital. Just check with the social worker of the hospital.

God Bless:D 😃

Who in your parish told you they wouldn’t be accepted?
My suggestion is to put them in the back of the church. They’ll be taken quickly by most-appreciative parishioners.
