Rough several months

Hello everyone,

I would again like to ask for prayers. I have been going through a very rough few months:

Girlfriend broke up with me over the summer.

Long hours at work for poor pay as I try to finish grad school.

Laptop died two weeks ago; replacement won’t be here for a week. Missing three weeks of my studies over it, as I need special software.

Replaced the emissions system, spark plugs and front breaks over the summer on my car.

A deer hit my car totaling it last week. Recent (expensive) repairs only bumped the settlement value from the insurance back up to what I paid for it, less deductible. I will be paying for the repairs for quite some time even as a I pay off my replacement car.

Had the flu two weeks ago, and missed submission deadlines for jobs I was applying to.

Before anyone asks, yes, I am seeking outside support, and my parents are helping me financially. I am just feel stuck and frustrated. Words of encouragement might be nice, as well as anecdotes of digging oneself out. 🙂
 
Just get up every day and keep the scooter between the lines and on your side of the road. The pilots say “any landing you walk away from is a good one.” These are crummy problems, but they left your ability to cope with them and your support system for coping with them intact. You can do it! The situation sucks, it is not out of place to feel aggrieved, but you can make it.

Sometimes it seems like, “when it rains, it pours,” doesn’t it?

I am so sorry for your struggles.

Oh, that especially has to hurt when you have car issues, and then your car is totaled. I hope that you weren’t hurt in that deer hit. 😦

My husband has been through those deer hits, too.

In fact, he hit two deer on the same stretch of road twice, within six months of each other. He was driving the exact same car, too, and it was hit in the exact same place, and needed the same kind of repairs, all over again.

My husband was kidding around and had said to me, “Couldn’t they read the deer crossing signs?” He had hit them ironically right where those deer crossing signs were posted on the road.

Our insurance agent at the time told us that they post those signs where deer accidents had occurred, so that drivers would be aware that this was a place where deer were likely to cross the road.

Seriously, sometimes I think that we feel like Job, in the Book of Job.

To me, all that we can do is just go on, one day at a time, and just put one foot in front of the other.

Thank you. No body was hurt. I chose to sacrifice the car and hit it head on, rather than risk whatever might happen by swerving to avoid the deer. It was at an awkward intersection in a curve in the road. The radiator cracked and let off so much steam!

My mom actually mentioned Job. 🙂

I looked through the vehicle’s assessment, and I am just frustrated with how fair it was; there is basically no room to dispute the value of the car! I took really good care of it, and as such, they only deducted for issues that occurred before I owned car, such as as paint damage and cigarette burns. It was just 12 years old and barely worth anything.

You must have seen my other post from yesterday. Remembering that moment from my first ever game at Fenway brightened me, even despite Wednesday’s unpleasantness!
 
Will be shopping for cars this afternoon. Fingers crossed…
