Are you kidding? The Brits are RUTHLESS (in an amusing way, I have to say) on the Royals…it’s always a treat to pop into the mirror or guardian website and see who’s slamming them today…lolI am sort of amazed that anyone thought we would be less than civil. I guess I am not too aware of the worries of the Royal family.
Yeah, I know the British tabloids are wicked to the Royals, but we in the States have to be careful. We don’t have the right to be wicked just because they make sport of it. It would be like having them quote the headlines of the National Inquirer- not too classy, right? Are you kidding? I say keep the Queen, but then I was an English immigrant to Canada before becoming a Canadian citizen, so you might say I am biased. Here in Canada most of us are amused that we still have the queen on our coinage.(I was surprised when I recently learned the beaver was not called “heads”) We’re thinking of taking the American lead, and replacing her with individuals who are based on merit. For now we just keep the royals on there because they are meaningless enough to our nation that it avoids the controversy of whom else to have there.
Many are expecting that when Charles gets his promotion it’s our chance to leave behind the outdated tradition - which will generate no more interest than his US departure.
