RSV Help

Hi,
I hope this is in the right place.
I am looking for the preface to the RSV Protestant version and the annotated one won’t work. I have in my possession a publication put out by the JW and it reads in part

God’s personal name is unimportant: "the use of any proper name for the one and only God…(the Watchtower is famous for their…,…)is entirely inappropriate for the universal faith of the Christian Church.

I just know that they left out something important here but I don’t have a copy of this particular bible. It is not in the RSV CE or the Annotated bible.

Does any one out there have access to this preface?

I would like to help you but could you explain a bit more.

Are you trying to find the preface to a particular printing of the RSV?

Who was the publisher?

Here is the portion of the RSV preface you were looking for:

The form “Jehovah” is of late medieval origin; it is a combination of the consonants of the Divine Name and the vowels attached to it by the Masoretes but belonging to an entirely different word. The sound of Y is represented by J and the sound of W by V, as in Latin. For two reasons the Committee has returned to the more familiar usage of the King James Version: (1) the word “Jehovah” does not accurately represent any form of the Name ever used in Hebrew; and (2) the use of any proper name for the one and only God, **as though there were other gods from whom He had to be distinguished, was discontinued in Judaism before the Christian era and **is entirely inappropriate for the universal faith of the Christian Church.
