Ignorance, the callowness of youth, lots of reasons.

Sadly, there are all too many hypocrites in all religions, who make a practice of 'SHOWING" how faithful they are with outward signs, while violating most of the commandments. That is what this person is speaking of, those that wear their ashes with great pride, while not actually living their religion at all.

We are all called to actually LIVE our religion, 24/7. Not for an hour on Sunday, and on an occasional day of obligation or feast day. We are called to clothe the naked, feed the hungry and to take care of the helpless ALL OF THE TIME.

Yes, there are many, many hypocrites that call themselves ā€œCatholicsā€. There is the pastor who adamantly refuses to allow a paraplegic to become a Eucharistic Minister; the choir director who refuses to allow a blind woman to sing in the choir, the physician that tosses a ten dollar bill in the collection plate each Sunday and believes that he/she has given their share to the church.

There are those that live in a lot more house than they needs, and never give a cent to St. Vincent de Paul Society (or any other charity).

Those that make substantial incomes, but do nothing to feed the hungry.

Those that refuse to even think about the spiritual needs of prisoners.

In other words, those that just plain refuse to live as Christ directed us all to live, but really believe that they are faithful Catholics.

Do you think the writer of that article could possibly have been talking about all of us?

She thinks God should be apologising to us
For creating us from nothing!
For getting crucified on a cross!

weird

Don’t even bother reading that kind of thing. Let them be smug about whatever they like, it doesn’t affect us.

She clearly has no clue in the world what she is talking about. It’s difficult to be offended by someone who has so little idea what’s going on (she gets that it’s ā€œpenanceā€ but she thinks penance is some kind of awful thing) - it would be of the same order of things as being offended by a two-year-old throwing a tantrum, or someone with a serious disability cutting in line ahead of you for the bathroom - they know not what they do, and neither does she.

Disgruntled person who must shove her beliefs down other peoples’ throats.
That’s all I see. Maybe she’s upset because she doesn’t feel that God loves her and is jealous that all these other people do.😦

I understand what she’s trying to say. But yeah I DEFINITELY disagree.

It sounds to me as though she is an anti-religionist.
It sounds to me as though she either her faith wasnt explained fully to her (assuming her family was religious), or that she is somehow afraid of God.

I have always wondered about this actually. People cite examples of times when religion has been used for violence, and what have you.

But if religion makes someone a genuinely better person, what is questionable about that? or is an ends justifiy the means issue?

What is the worst possible thing that can happen with religion (other than the obvious war, extremism, cultism, etc)? other than that whats the worst that can happen?

I know a few people of the Jewish faith, but I dont bash on them simply because I disagree. One of my uncles is an atheist, and while he jokes occasionally (always in good fun), I dont try to convert him to Catholicism.

I am proud of my faith, but I never try to force it or proselytize. But if one has questions, I am more than happy to discuss.

I get that some dont like religion because you have to give up stuff, and serve others. I mean, yes it is easy to be secular and run around whilly-nilly. But you have to have a conscience.

But really, why are so many people afraid of religion?

EDIT:

also when I read or hear stories like this it only serves to inspire me to believe even more.

if any fellow Knights of Columbus are reading this, think of the 3rd Degree Ceremoial. thats a perfect example of what Im trying to say.

Maybe if Kipi embraced the spirit of penance (rather than ridiculing it) she could, with the power of God, break the bonds of the sin of pride that she has clearly allowed herself to be shackled to. She condemns God for allowing slavery to exist in the past, but does not care about the deadly spiritual bondage that she is in here and now. We need to pray for a softening of her heart and an openness to the virtue of humility so that her description of herself as ā€œhell boundā€ does not become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Kipi calls her blog a ā€œcook book.ā€ Well if that is the case, her blog seems to be heavy on the devil’s food-cake recipes.

Why are people like her so mean & rude?😦
Because they can be.

Like it or not, they are exercising their Free Speech. And sometimes, they do it just because. šŸ˜›

I think it’s pretty good to read these things to that we can be prepared to answer the attempts to knock people of faith. Imagine this person being face to face with you, saying these things, esp with a crowd of people who are on the edge of being Faithful or not? If you got hit with this, unprepared, it’s a very good chance you would just be stunned, say nothing, or lash out. None of those things so good. But, because it’s on the internet, you can see it, vent, rant, and then be prepared to answer when you are f2f with a person with these comments. šŸ˜‰

Take it for what it’s worth: The Devil is out there. We are the Church Militant. Let’s be trained!šŸ‘

The world needs Miles Christi, possibly now more than ever. We are called to be kingdom builders, to be beacons of hope, to be examples of moral values, in a society that has forsaken them.

Also its funny, in the face of opposition, it only makes me want to believe that much more. 😃

And don’t forget, we really need to pray for this girl and others like her!

Yeah, I guess we should just pray for her and people like her…

I pray one day she will open her eyes and see life in a different way… in a Christian way…

I think we should all pray for her and remind ourselves, she knows not what she does. Imagine what kind of a witness she could be if she turns her life over to Christ. Pray for her, her family, and those reading her blog.
