I have read it and I like it 🙂 It’s a lovely rule for living a life with God the Father based on humility, obedience, charity and love.

Can anyone tell me anything about St Benedict and the rule - what is the “gift” it brings to the world? What is it’s charism?

Thankyou

You might like to read “The Life and Miracles of St. Benedict” by Gregory the Great. It tells of St. Benedict’s life and about his sister, St. Scholastica.

Benedictines are known for their hospitality, their stability (they are not a mendacant order), their belief in living a balanced life, and their belief in living a “small” life, but living it very well.

Threads discussing Benedictine spirituality in general

A search on “Benedictine” brings up a whole listing of very good threads, to many to cut and paste. Some of them have great books to suggest

Life-Giving Way by Esther DeWaal
Benedictine Handbook
St. Benedict’s Toolbox
Saint Benedict by Julian Stead ed.
Benedict in the World by Kulzer and Bondi

All are great intro to Benedictine Spirituality, the charism of the Holy Rule and applying the rule to life
