I would like to read the Rule of St Benedict but see there are a lot of versions available.

Does anyone have a favorite you would recommend?

Thank you - that was a great link with lots of information. I ordered a copy of the book from the website.

I appreciate your help!

Doyle’s version is fantastic. 🙂

Remember: there is a portion in the middle where St Benedict sets up the Liturgy of the Hours that is a tad dry. The beginning before that, and the part after that are works of spiritual genius.👍

Thank you for the warning! I’m anxious for my copy to arrive so I can start reading.

Last weekend my priest told me he’d read an article suggesting it be read “backward” - last chapter first. He didn’t have time to explain the reasoning, I guess I’ll see what I think as I go through it!

If you are looking for something new to read (and since you obviously are a fan of Benedictine spirituality) you might look at Befriending Silence by Carl McColman. I enjoyed it very much and this is what sparked my interest in Benedict!
