Hello! I was wondering if someone could help me, I need a reference for a friend.

I thought I remember that some saint once said something to the effect of, “There is temptation that you can fight, and then there is temptation that you run from, like sexual temptation.”

I thought this would be really useful to share but I can’t remember what saint it was (or if it even was a saint!). I was thinking maybe St. Augustine?? I can’t remember, but I remember hearing that it is much better to run from sexual temptation than to even try and fight it, as opposed to fighting some temptation like cheating on your taxes.

Thannkks!!!👍

1 Corinthians 6:18 – “Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.”

I don’t know if that’s what you’re looking for. I couldn’t find anything on any saint who said something similar.

The quote looks like something that came out of “Spiritual Combat” by Lorenzo Scupoli. In the book he says that we need to fight our temptations, but because of the nature of sins against chasitity the best thing to do is to flee from them.

It could come from something that St. Francis de Sales wrote, as he read Scupoli’s book daily.

Just a random guess.
