Rush has one positive attribute that overshadows any negative one, and that is his pro-life stance. He is openly and avowedly anti-abortion.

**Good Grief!!! This is one person who…despite his consistent anti-abortion stance…irrates me to no end. **

As much as I dislike Rush, (hate is not good) he is without a doubt the Babe Ruth of the political talk radio genre. And I do not in any way mean that as a cut. He absolutely revolutionized the way it is done in radio.

That’s the 4th Marconi Award for Rush:clapping: I enjoy listening to him illustrate absurdity with the absurd.:tiphat:

absurdity with the absurd.
By the absurd.
Obviously, I can’t stand listening to this windbag.
Michael Savage I can listen to, sometimes, for a little while…

I remember the first time I heard Rush on the radio, I was floored with his style and his views. I have come to understand what he is saying. He is not right or wrong most of the time. His views are consistent though. I think he is entertaining. The MSM disturbs me more because of the lies and the bias. I know Rush is biased, yet he is a talk show host. He is not aiming to be a mere reporter of the news. He is trying to shape your opinion with his and he is upfront about it. The MSM claims to be independent, and unbiased and they have become worse and worse at it.

I like Rush even though he is sort of full of himself. He has stood up for Catholics many times when he sees the bias. No, he is not perfect or even always right (that is what God gave me a brain for).
I have come to understand his role in the media and he is a giant in that media.

Rush has always said that you have to listen to him for at least 6 weeks in order to “get” what he is saying and how he is saying it. I’ve been listening to him for 13 years. I think he’s great. I really like Sean Hannity, too.

BTW, many years ago when my daughter was turning four years old, I asked her what she wanted for her birthday. She said “Mommy, I want a Rush Limbaugh doll!”

You listen to Savage, and call RUSH a windbag!!! … go figure!

Don’t know how long you’ve listened to Rush. For 17 years I’ve spent a lot of time listening to him. He said to give him 6 wks. It took a bit longer than that for me (I’m thick-headed). I was Democrat back then, although a disillusioned one because of abortion. I would look up what he said, and it made me mad that he was usually right. He helped me to understand what was going on because he reported what the mainstream news never would, so that gave a more balanced view of the world. For years before he came on the air I was frustrated with the media because I knew they weren’t reporting on what I was interested in, and they were definitely pro-abortion. I think he has a good sense of humor (except when he drifts toward the bawdy, and then I get mad at him), and I can listen for hours to him expound on politics. I’ve listened to a lot of other talk shows since him, but noone yet has equaled him. I always come back. He’s not Catholic, but I think he’d make a good one (except for the divorces).

Shortly after I first heard him on air, I recognized his vulnerability when it comes to women. He was always more deferential when a woman called, and I’d get frustrated because I thought he’d waste time. I don’t think he’s arrogant, just unpolished, though he’s grown over the years. He knows who he is, and what he believes which can come off as arrogance sometimes. My guess is he’s a nerd who found his place in life. He has told how he just happened to be in the right place at the right time for this break in radio. His tongue-in-cheek self-promotion can sound arrogant, but his “talent on loan from God” line I think is very telling. People think it’s arrogant, but it’s very humble, because EVERYONE’S talent is on loan from God!

But I really came to admire him when he lost his hearing. I had noticed a slight slurring of some words for a little while, and didn’t understand it because he always spoke so clearly. He handled it all so professionally (dare I say “Catholicly”?). When he announced it on air, it was so matter-of-fact, for such a life-changing calamity. I gotta love him! I can’t talk about him to a lot of my family, but I still listen.

God bless you all
Ruthmary

I can’t stand to listen to him for too long because he always sounds so arrogant. It’s nice to know that he supports good causes though.

He’s brilliant. Of course, the liberals don’t like him, but I venture to say they would cringe at the thought of going toe to toe with him on his program. He can eat them for breakfast. God bless Rush.

I started listening to Rush about a year and a half ago. My brother got me to listen to Rush and now I’M the one who has to remind him to tune his program on, when we are in the car.

Sure some of you think he is pompus or arrogent, I think it is part of his sarcastic humor. I love to listen to that “lovable little fuzzball!”

Besides his accuracy is 98.5% and the stats are from an independent media company. (Rush explained it a few months ago).

Anyone a 24/7 member of his or receive his Limbaugh Letter?

I’m not a member of 24/7 and I don’t presently subscribe to his newsletter. A few years ago, my husband bought a subscription of the Limbaugh Letter as a gift to me and I really enjoyed it. I was thinking about subscribing to one of them, are you a member? If you are, which one do you prefer? I love listening to Rush and I can’t wait to tune in tomorrow to him and Laura Ingraham to hear their comments about the Peace March in D.C. yesterday! Did you happen to catch any of that on C-Span?:whacky:

Please re-read my post. I said “sometimes, for a little while…”

Frankly, I find ALL talkshow hosts tedious at best. I listened to Savage to placate my son who insisted I must listen before judgeing.
I listened, then I judged; same old, same old…

Expect the left to call for congressional investigations into fraud in the selection process for ‘personality of the year’

Before Rush there was Larry King and Bob Grant.

Nowadays, there are dozens of Rush imitators, who by the way are doing quite well, financially as well as in terms of numbers of listeners and numbers of stations.

Larry King is still Larry King. Radio American is now there, but still quite small overall. But the right-wing radio talk shows have increasd geometrically. Exponentially, even.

So it appears that Rush has spawned an entire viable industry.

The point is still the same. You still say you can listen to Savage for longer than you can listen to Rush.
