PARIS (AP) — A huge golden dome has been hoisted atop a new Russian Orthodox cathedral in the heart of Paris, in a ceremony to inaugurate a controversial project championed by Vladimir Putin.
Dignitaries attended Saturday’s special blessing of The Saint Trinity church built on the site of the former headquarters of France’s national weather forecasting service— near the Seine River and the Eiffel Tower.
The onion dome, which weighs eight tons and is 12 meters high, is the first of five to top the cathedral slated for completion in October.
The site was sold to Russia under former President Nicolas Sarkozy’s government amid criticism from rights groups about France’s outreach to Putin.

I was hoping for better pictures than that, I’m sure it’ll be beautiful. In this day and age it seems western Europe needs all of the Christian faith they can get. I pray they return to their Catholic roots.

You don’t quite get exact numbers for today, but from the wikipedia article, it seems that if there aren’t already more practicing Muslims than Catholics in France, there will be soon. The rate of Catholic attendance in France is really quite low.

Isn’t that the truth! I occasionally work with some young adults from all over Europe. They simply say that church is boring. No concept of what is going on in the Church. No faith.

Feel free to post them. This is just a Yahoo news article.

I have a good friend from England, his grandfather was an American Anglican priest, he’s been raised with great faith, however he goes to a private Anglican school, and he’s the only practicing Christian in his class. The said the other kids are either nonpracticing or agnostic/atheists, you can tell it’s very hard for him since many of them say that a smart person could never be Christian.
