Yes. It’s kind of a hard things for us, Americans, to grasp since we are use to this whole entitlement to freedom. But, little do we know that a lot of our freedoms really shouldn’t be around.

Yes, the word “freedom” has been exploited and used to encourage us to do harmful things - mentally, spiritually, emotionally. It was all packaged as “no limits” but what that meant was a lot of good things have been replaced by a lot of bad things.

Oh, I don’t know. Isn’t this the same government that supports Planned Parenthood and same-sex marriage? Are you also interested in the government pushing the normalization of transgenderism?
It is beyond me that people who fear persecution from the government on one hand are so willing to turn over their security to the same government that pushes many of the things that the Church is opposed to.
When the government enforces federal law, balances its budget, eliminates the debt and works within the confines of the constitution, then I’ll give a listen. Until then, I don’t want the government censoring anything.

Tell me; what freedom of yours are you willing to surrender to government?
It is a scary thing to me that many people here believe that the government is the answer to the problems of society when often times it has been the exact same government that has mandated these ills. And it is even scarier that some are willing to just surrender their rights and freedom to the government!

The “evil government” phrase really bothers me. There are so many special interest groups out there. “The government is bad because it doesn’t want to give my group what we want” followed by “The government is worthy of all praise because it just gave my group what we want.”
As far as individuals monitoring the internet - as opposed to the government - a central database gets all the blocking data and it’s updated daily, just like antivirus companies are constantly updating their new threats database. No government would have to be involved, just the will of the people.

I agree that this is a silly phrase, “forbidden to forbid.” How do people not realize the dumbness of statements like these?
“The only truth is that there is no truth.” – This is a simple self-contradiction, therefore it is false.
“It is forbidden to forbid.” – Same as above.
“There are no absolutes.” – Ditto.
Some people may think it’s profound if an idea they believe in involves an actual self-contradiction, but I think it’s absurd and is proof that that idea is not true.

Sorry, I forgot to clarify.
I, as a devout, practicing, traditional Catholic, answer general or hypothetical questions with the reasoning of a perfect Catholic world.
So, in a perfect Catholic world, we would have a Benevolent King, who in that case, I would be willing to give almost every trust I have to him (this is a perfect form because it is based off of the Trinity and the Kingdom of God).
But, with a government we have today, I would still allow them to control my internet security because I should have nothing to hide. And besides, controlling internet security is not the same as controlling what is put on the internet or what is forced upon my computer.

I’m not sure if this is something you want the government doing. They couldn’t even get the ObamaCare website running. A private company may be better from an adoption standpoint.
