I agree wholeheartedly. The Church doesn’t have a dog in that fight. If clergy members want to state their opinions, I’m fine with that, but not the church.
 
The Russian Orthodox church, like the news agency reporting the news, are like branches of the Russian government.
As Putin and his government give asylum to Snowden, they are defying the US position and in this they have complete support of their church.
This is not a religious issue, but part of the anti-American campaign of Russia.
